OK been in RC for decades, crawling is something new for me. so can someone explain "Cheater Rig" to me. are there guidelines/specs for them. I've seen them on Facebook and they look awesome. wouldn't mind having one to go along with just about one of every kind of crawler I want.
thanks
Tom

Chassis are generally Carbon Fiber rails, forward weight of motormount/tranny setups to lower COG to help keep it wheels down on inclines.
Skids are generally angled lower front to a bit higher in the back. generally around 6* but some are nearing 10* angled skid.
Generally, High clearance links in the rear. Often tranny setups with Dig. Solid HD axles built to take some punishment.

Everything is designed for forward weight bias and lower COG as they are built to be more capable compish rigs.
Here is one I built based on a clone of the Japanese design Gaishya chassis.

Done right, they can be very well balanced if you're mindful of placement of none locatable gear, aka esc/battery etc.

There really aren't any specs. That's kinda the point really. Youre not building a rig to meet a scale rule set like sorrca, youre building for maximum performance.

With that said, there are some rule sets of there that are pretty minimalistic. They allow all sorts of things that are not really scale so what some would call a cheater rigs can compete.

thanks for your photo's and info. that's a serious rig. what is the WB? Is yours 4ws? is that allowed in cheater rigs.
WB is 12 3/4 inches center wheel nut to center wheel nut. front steer only. I Think 4WS is fine.
cheaters are not always allowed in some comps/rules. so it may or may not be allowed. lol
