in the old days there was just red brake lights. sometimes a few extra up high on back of roof for visability.

now there is red lights, amber lights, blue lights, flashing amber, flashing blue, offset blue etc.

is this all just done for visability or do the light colors mean something? what does the flashing signify. why are there some colors only on one side?

or do they mean nothing and its just there inner ricer coming out?

:help::oops:

also anyone know anymore (pics, info, links) about the general tire patriotic rig in this video.?

Amber lights..
To pass tech it needs to be constantly on, and connected to the ignition, you turn the key and it turns on. You can run a flashing amber as well, but that can't be your only amber.

Rulebook | Ultra4Racing.com

6.2.16.4.3 A rearward facing blue light, in addition to the rearward facing amber light, must be installed on all vehicles participating in the Best in the Desert American off-road Ultra 4 racing series. This blue light is intended to identify slower moving classes of vehicles to faster vehicles approaching from the rear.

Like Josh posted.

Basically for the trophy trucks and other fast desert rigs that there is a "slow" Ultra4 car ahead that they are going to close the gap on much quicker than if it were a rig more similar to their own.

Still love watching the U4 guys though :ror:

so Its all done just for visability sounds like.
I thought maybe the driver had control of them and maybe flash the blue light on the right side or left side to tell the faster car approaching them which side to pass on.
thanks for the clarity

this is the buggy im trying to find pics on.
ive tried tons of different google image searches and haven't found a single pic of it.

huge thanks C4F

but i did several google searches for that info and didnt get a single picture of it :(
"rick johnson prerunner"
"Rick johnson buggy" etc.

The blue light penetrates the dust with better contrast than the other tail lights. Not only does it identify the slow guys it does it from a further distance.
