Cambpell Racing Dragon Slayer

This will be my first attempt at a scale build from nearly scratch. Starting with the base chassis of the Yeti I am going to keep the tube work as close to the actual as possible. To start I sent my brother some images of the new Dragonslayer, dimensions of the yeti and said go. A few weeks later I had a plot of the basic tubework on paper for scaling.

From that I started in on the tube work. It has been going pretty well for a first build and it's much easier to tac with a tig welder vs brazing but doesn't look as nice.

Thanks! I am using 3/16" and 1/8" solid rod. It's way less expensive than stainless dom or even 4130 dom tubing.

Still not sure how far into detail I will go with the interior but more than where I'm at now

The interior will probably suffer some just because of the width of the Yeti tub. That and I don't want to cover up the motor nor the esc. I might end up with a fan on the motor and need it to breath. The seat will also suffer some because of the transmission height. I had to trim the wraith seat to make it tilt forward more too. Considering all those things though it should turn out pretty nicely.

Worked a bit on the rear sway bar. I need to add in a piece of tubing to house the rod but a couple tie rods gives the general idea/location. Hard part will be welding the stainless tube to the carbon steel and doing it clean.

Also put in the new Vanquish knuckles. I was having a tough time lining up the inner bearing but I found a good instruction post. Put the outer bearing in, then put the inner bearing on the spindle first. Doing this lines up the inner bearing properly for a smooth fit.

Thanks! I'll run this body for more scale runs then have the original body for the couple times I might race. Wish there was a track in Utah somewhere. Really hoping the front locker will make it more manageable in more crawling situations.

Thanks! Here's a few more pics of the short progress tonight. Relocated the front shocks to accommodate the down tube that was needed. Turned out pretty nicely. The main stuff is all tac'd on so next will be getting it all welded up. I desperately need to get a new tig torch that's both smaller and more accurate.

29.83 ounces is around 1.8 lbs. Kinda heavy but that's the nature of solid rod. Maybe the second one will be out of tubing.

So after seeing the hobbez84's Yeti Kit Build and the front shocks moved to the back of the axle I had to re-do things up front. It's not perfect but looks way better imho. See for yourself

Thanks! It's been a fun build so far. Starting to get into the nitty gritty with body panels and welding things up. Still trying to figure out how I'm going to do the front light bar. The LED bar would be nice but it's just not scale like the round ones. I'll probably end up with some of the Axial buckets. Just can't decide if I want to do the front buckets or not.

Thanks! I'm using 1/16 filler rod wherever I can. My torch is an 18 and is way too big. Need to get a new one and a gas lens kit so it can reach all the angles. Maybe next week

Dang Nick! Nice work man! You should teach me how to tig sometime. I imagine it's much faster than brazing. Probably stronger too? Rigs lookin real good. Got any ideas for the body work?
