Buxom Melons: Class 2 VW Beetle

Re: Buxom Melons: 2-speed SCX 10 Monster Beetle

nice, what wheels are there?

I'm not sure, I think Eritex... I actually just sold them 2 days ago!

Here's a few pics from our gtg the other day. We went out to check out this spot and followed it up the next weekend with a comp

Hang on Melons!

FEEL THE POWER!

I just picked up a used HH 14T Puller.
I bought it to put in Hera but I want to see if I can cram it in Melons...
Right now, I'm running the largest dia. spur gear I can fit in the Summit trans. I know as is, the motor will not fit because it'll run into the front driverside shock tower. I'm wondering how small a spur I will need to run to get the puller to clear the shock tower... If I do this, I'm assuming the Puller will make up for the loss of torque from running a smaller spur... I hope.

Re: Buxom Melons: 2-speed SCX 10 Monster Beetle

are you using CVD's in the front or the dog bones? I ask mostly because I am having a heck of a time keeping pins in my CVDs. I started using hex wrenches and sheered them off as well.

Man.. the pictures from that spot you posted a few posts above look awesome. Where else do we see pictures of terrain like that on the forum? That's a cool spot we got"thumbsup"

Yes, I'm currently running MIP cvd's with Gunnar pins.
I've had a few issue with sheering pins. I had heat shrink on both but it got tore up. I need to get some more.
I believe the Axial cvd's have a metal sleeve to hold the pins in. I was running those but snaped the hole that the pin goes in... which I guess is a testament to the Gunnar pins.

DL, I know man... I love it down there! I can't wait to run that trail again!
We gotta thank Trey "thumbsup"

Ha! You just did! I'm glad everyone likes it! "thumbsup" I saw another spot from the air when I was landing at O'Hare on Tuesday, I need to go scope it out. We also need to go over to the Cicero side at Foster and see what's there.

Re: Buxom Melons: 2-speed SCX 10 Monster Beetle

lets see the new larger lid already lol enough suspense

alright alright!
Here's what I'm going with for now and if I don't like it... I'll paint the outside black 8)

Metallic Black and Fiery Orange. I'm going to use the backing black after a few more coats of orange... this is one coat of orange, four black.
The Buxom Melons stickers line up with the strips.

Re: Buxom Melons: 2-speed SCX 10 Monster Beetle

We're having a comp this Sunday... in several inches of snow
I put my front axle back together last night. I had borrowed the VP knuckles and MIP axles from Melons to put in my FOFF rig for vacation.
I installed a Highland locker in the front axle, it seems to have gone in straight this time.

After the comp, I want to install a set of VP Zero Ackerman knuckles I picked up.

Whys it seem like the paint has runs in it? :( I love the colors and design though.
It doesn't have runs in it but it's not perfect because I'm very impatient!
I ran out of masking tape and used scotch tape in a few spots when I was masking off the black lines... it didn't come off clean and left some residue in a few spots... I don't think it looks bad, just not perfect.

The rear motor area isn't done yet.

You're not getting first AGAIN if I have anything to do with it!

Re: Buxom Melons: 2-speed SCX 10 Monster Beetle

Buxom Melons ran great today, I only hit 1 gate on my second run "thumbsup"

We're still waiting for scores...
