Buxom Melons: Class 2 VW Beetle

Re: Buxom Melons: 2-speed SCX 10 Monster Beetle

Thanks man!
I'm thinking of painting my white wheels black... or getting Mayhem Engineering Double Phatty's.

Here's a few nice shot's MegaFattie took:

That is close to how steep that is... and nobody rolled!
I started high and slid towards the bottom with forward progress.
I think everyone was waiting for their truck to roll, I know I was.

Melons sidehills pretty good considering the Summit trans sits up so high.

Re: Buxom Melons: 2-speed SCX 10

Hey Trey, I think ya should delete the first and last "thumbsup"

A few shots of Buxom Melons trying on Hera's new wheels... Mayhem Engineering Double Phattys on the rear and Ultimate Comp Wheels up front.

I wrapped new heat shrink around the MIP axles to keep the pins in through Sundays comp!

Mega Fattie accidentally snapped my .05 hex at our last comp.
Then last weekend we had a small gtg and I broke an axle.
I removed both grub screws from the axles with the broken .05, fixed everything and thought I could tighten the grub's back down... not a good idea. I think I striped them, or nearly, both.
So, McMaster-Carr to the rescue!
I ordered some heat shrink to hold them in through the comp. They delivered in 1 day!

Buxom melons looks pretty good with normal size tires! A Class 3 that can tuck the wheels 8)

Re: Buxom Melons: 2-speed SCX 10

Looks like a mog axle swapped 1:1 with like 46" tires, pretty bad ass!

Those wheels are awesome, I'm doing something similar with dish wheels from touring cars.

I've been thinking of going with the solid beadlock for a while, I imagined they'd look good on Melons... and I like em!
I picked up another set of Double Phattys from the classifieds a couple of days ago.
MTHead is making me some custom solid beadlocks to go on them:

awwww yeah baby, V Dub!

Re: Buxom Melons: 2-speed SCX 10

I really like the look of the solid ring on Melons.
I picked up another set from the classified section for a killer price, thanks J-Fab!
I can't wait to get the new rings from MTHead... I still like the idea of stainless steel hubcaps for the OEM's. I may need them smaller for a C1 now. ;-)

The back up axles for Sundays comp showed up yesterday along with the longer Wraith MIP outdrives. The Axial trans is so much shorter, when I did the test swap a few weeks ago, my drive shafts hardly engaged.
Two more comps left and then the transmission swap! I'm excited to see what she can do with a lower center of gravity and dig. I expect next season Buxom Melons will be even tougher

Re: Buxom Melons: 2-speed SCX 10

looks so good

Thanks! "thumbsup"

Buxom Melons took home her 4th straight Class 3 win yesterday!
and just for the hell of it, after the C3 run, I threw on some 1.9 wheels w Pit Bulls and ran her in Class 2... and she won first place in that class too!

I love this rig ;-)

Re: Buxom Melons: 2-speed SCX 10

Thanks for the pics WarTrader!

Melons proved to everyone it's not the tires when she took first place in C2 with itty bitty 1.9's!

and that's all I've got to say about that.

Re: Buxom Melons: 2-speed SCX 10

Awesome! Its one hell of a super beetle! I run 1.9 pit bulls as well, they are monsters.

Thanks man!
I don't know if any pics were takin of Melons on 1.9s during the comp.
Here's one I took for the beer thread after I got home from the comp and a few of the 1.9 PitBulls on the rig they belong to... my Dinky MRC "thumbsup"

Re: Buxom Melons: 2-speed SCX 10

I hit this damn root obsticle about a dozen times, each resulting in a failed atempt to get over it, rolled a couple of times and recovered and had just called for a helping winch when I decided to run it one more time while the winch truck was being set up... that last run at it led to this nasty roll at least 15 feet down the hill towards the river and if you can believe it, I recovered at the last second (tried recovering each time I went over) and drove straight up the hill and over the obstacle! It was awesome!

Melons_Roll_Anim.gif

MTHead hooked me up with some new rings for my new used Double Fattys!
I may have him make me a 2nd set for the slightly wider Axial 2.2's. I gotta see how Melons does with one inch wheels and the super wide PitBulls.
