Buxom Melons: Class 2 VW Beetle

You have made the best use of any bug body yet IMO. Your truck is truly an inspiration.

I too have been going over the rules for the RC4WD East Coast nationals wondering if my not-exactly-scale SCX is legal for class 2.

added a few more scale points: tow rope, bungi cords and jumper cables

it took some work but Melons got all new bearings in her front axle... they were in pretty bad shape and totally stuck in the knuckles.
I soaked them in wd-40 overnight.

I took Melons out for a spin today in prep for the RC4WDEast Coast Scale Challenge.
She's feeling pretty good. I'm looking forward to seeing how we do against 49 other drivers. "thumbsup"

well, I made a change I've been wanting to do. I put in a cell phone Recaro seat.
It's much lighter than the Wraith seat but it raised my driver about an inch.

I'm not sure which cog is better... I'd guess this new set up.
But, I always felt some of Melons charm came from the driver looking out the window.

I think I'll leave it like this for ECSC and then make a lighter seat after.

oh, and I forgot to mention. Melons took third at last weekends NWITTC event.
The competition was tough! We competed against at least 30 other trucks...
The difference between first and 3rd was 6 points!

Melons put up a hellava good fight in the RC4WD East Coast Scale Challenge!
We ended up in 6th place out of 45 drivers... not too bad.

Congrats on placing 6th at ECSC! Melons is still one sweet looking bug and getting even better looking with age. "thumbsup"

Melons rocked opening day of the NWITTC series! (North West Indiana TTC)
Seems only appropriate that a Chicago rig won since the event was held in IL, not IN. ;-)

There was a lot of competition but Melons walked away with first place! Now we just gotta keep it up for 5 more events.

There may be more pics out there... but I didn't take any.

Thanks!
I can't believe how nervous I was... it was crazy. I guess because we haven't comped in a while.

I actually rolled Melons right outa the first gate. :lmao:

Took Melons to the lakefront today... she seems underpowered. ATM, not sure if it's the motor, esc or battery. I have the next 2 days off so will get out there again.
