Boom Racing parts???

Not the Phat axles housings personally. But i do plenty of guys who run 'm and are very pleased with them. Infact i don't know anybody who has 'm and is not pleased with them. So i giess that makes it a legit purchase.

On the cheap parts and comps'. I took my 55% Boomracing parts build, the COD to a comp previous weekend and took 3rd place in 2.2 class in a pretty intense comp'. The Non Boom' parts were the bodyshell, chassis, $20,- esc, $9,- brushed motor and servo :).

So stepping in a steaming pile of chit here but I actually want some real world feedback on the steel housings from boom.

Anyone actually buy some and have a comparison to aluminum cases?
I would think the steel would be a bit slicker over the rocks and obviously heavier, I wonder though given the stellar words spoke of the manufacturer if their casting and finishing job makes them not worth buying?

Anyone that has run al axle cases bought & ran the boom steels?

I've never run Al. axles so I don't haven any comparative data but I'm extremely happy with the Phat Axles. Great way to add 5oz's down low that you don't have to spin. Fit and finish were great, they're basically a copy of stock Axial plastic housings. I did have to add a couple small shims to my pinion though.

They're definitely heavy and the steel slides over rocks real nicely..

Old thread I'm bumping, but I think it's worth while.

Firstly, my post isn't about the quality of Boom Racing parts, but more about the quality of Boom Racing's service.

I brought some rear Boom Racing shocks for my Twin Hammers via a seller on eBay, and not Asiatees or Boom racing direct. After a short period of use I had some concerns related to the shocks leaking and some wear on the shock shaft.

As as owner of a business I understand the value of feedback. I also understand 'shit happens' sometimes and prefer to let people know about a problem in a constructive manner rather than simply complaining and whinging.

On this basis I contacted Asiatees / Boom Racing via email and explained the issue with my shocks. Having purchased some Boom Racing parts previously, and been happy with their quality and performance, I was disappointed with these shocks.

I was never expecting anything from Boom Racing, other than an acknowledgment of the problem. The guys at Boom Racing seemed to be concerned I wasn't happy with their product, asked some further questions of me and also requested some photos of the issues. They genuinely appeared to want to understand the problem to rectify in the future and assured me I was simply unlucky on this occasion. I was surprised at the end of the email correspondence they said they would send me some replacement shocks, free of charge.

I was even more surprised when a package arrived at my door step within days which not only contained one pair if shocks, but two, plus additional spring sets and a bunch of stickers!

In my opinion that's good customer service. Well done Boom Racing!

Sure my initial correspondence was initially prompted due to the issue with their product, and the cynics could speculate why they sent two sets of shocks and not one..... However, regardless of what anyone thinks of their quality, Boom Racing definitely seem to care what their customers think and are wanting to improve their products. I've spent a lot more with so called name brand companies and at times had terrible service.

Customer service is worth something and I'll be definitely be buying from these guys again.

Cheers.

think the chinese steel axle cases could be brazed/welded on?

I can't speak to every axle, I run the Phat scx10 axles though. They are cast, so technically welding is not recommended. On something this small though you'd probably get away with it as the person doing the welding knows what they're doing. Brazing would probably work

just bought some arms, very nice quality. curious to compare them to these $10 china arms when they show up
