Hi all!

I own a Wraith and 2 SCX10 and love both of them.

I am now looking for something to do more bashing and am looking at the Yeti SCORE and the Traxxas Slash

Could you help me make up my mind? your experiences and advises will be greatly appreciated and hopefully out of this 3D I will come up with my final decision...

Look forward to your kind feedback !

I just had the same dilemma myself. As a previous owner of a built yeti I chose to go with a slash this time. I think for bashing the slash would be easier to work on in the field if something were to break. Plus most local hobby stores carry traxxas replacement parts. I ordered the slash 4x4 ultimate yesterday.

I'll be parting ways with my yeti soon here and going this route.

I have a Yeti and my son has the Slash.

TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT ANIMALS!

The Yeti is good for rougher all terrain, but is not a speed demon.

The Slash is unbelievably quick and at 50+ MPH is still stable.

They are both great vehicles and they each do their own thing very well but they do not share the others capabilities.

Without getting into any mod's the price point it is possiable to own both.

i have owned and sold a few yeti 's and currently have a bomber ,wraith tuber and several losi scte and 2 slash 4x4..... sct are sooo much easier to work on and sooo much more durable . they are awsome for yard, track, and mild trail bashing. however if you want to do rocks ravines and crawling and dont mind fixing and fighting to get into broken parts then the yeti maybe for you"thumbsup"

I have 2 Slashes and one Yeti, and here is my view on how they breakdown:

The Yeti is my scale model, for building fun. The Slashes are my bashers, for driving fun.

I still drive both the Yeti and the Slashes, but the Slash is the go-fast basher that will never look quite as scale as my Yeti. If the Slash breaks (which is rare), parts are cheap and easy to source and replace. To race my son and crash like crazy, the Slash is where I go.

The Yeti is my rock-bouncer that will never go as fast as my Slash, because it breaks a lot and parts are hard to find. But for low speed rock driving, and scale model building, the Yeti is where I go.

Thanks to all! I guess I have to go for a Slash then... need for some speed and lot of bashing!

I just went through this as well. I was on the fence for either a basher or just an all around good truck. I decided if I wanted to just beat it to death there was only one choice, the slash. I ended up with the yeti and I am glad I did, I learned I've gotten over just driving wide open back and forth waiting to crash. Lol. The yeti is a great truck but is in no way as durable as a slash. I would go as far as to say it's one of the top 3 greatest bashers of all time

I've had both, and i prefer the Trophy Truck just because of the terrain it can handle. In fact, I've had the Yeti RR and two TTs (and sold both) recently, because I wanted to build the kit Yeti RR and buy the extra parts to convert it to a TT whenever I want. So I basically now have the Kit RR (and all it's upgrades and my own electronics) that can convert to a TT in about 15 minutes.

THAT is the best of both worlds IMO. The Slash is a great machine, no doubt, it's what I suggest all my new RC friends buy to start out since it's got the body protection newbies need, but once you get past that, the customization and fun of the Yeti's really stands out.

That's what I thought about doing a while back (minus having a RR and two TTs). I still might, now that you brought it up :lmao:

I've driven a Slash and briefly the Yeti RR. While there's a huge difference between the two, I'd go with the Yeti every time because the Slash is just too rock-hard on rough surfaces - I lost control easily because its suspension didn't soak up everything it was up against. The Yeti, on a similar surface, soaked up everything and kept its balance with every rock I drove it over. That's probably because the two trucks are so different in how they're built (i.e. trailing arms, tires, chassis, weight).

I don't know how the Yeti TT drives (probably not very differently - the only differences are smaller tires, King shocks and a bigger body), but that's just my opinion on how those two trucks compare...

Thanks again guys, the more I read your posts the closer I get to what I think I need, i.e. what use I want to make out of it..

Having had both id go yeti tt only because of how im mimics the real thing. I dont know of any real 1:1 trophy trucks that are ifs front and rear and looking at the TT do its thing over rough terrain is a sight to see. It wont win races at the local track, ive experienced it first hand this weekend. Leave that to the slashes, sc10's, scte's, etc. What it will do is keep you in the hobby cause your always trying to inprove it and make it better for the different terrain its going over. To me thats what makes it the choice for me. Ive had the slash too. Fun but nowhere near as realistic as these new rc trophy trucks are. My $.02.

I think I got you.."thumbs"

thanks!

I own both a slash 4x4 and a Yeti Score right now. They are very different trucks. The way they drive, the design, everything. The slash is very durable and handles well. It's also pretty fast right out of the box. Parts are cheap and plentiful. It's not very scale and basically only the body resembles a truck. The score is super realistic and handles pretty good. It moves realistically. It doesn't jump as well as the slash (nose dives unless you goose it right off the lip). It's not as durable as the slash either. It also is a slug on 2S and needs a gear change right out of the box.

So I guess it depends on what your priorities are. Do you want scale realism in every aspect or just something that roughly looks the part and is durable and handles well?

Well I think I am more into scale realism for this rig rather than performances though the Traxxas durability would be a driver for my choice... Most probably as I am going to upgrade this rig I guess that the yeti with some upgrades would suit my needs... Thanks again for sharing your experiences and thoughts !! ;-)

I second what JDM said :) Slash is great for speed bashing but what makes you stay longer on offroad tracks is realism of your truck. When every turn you make introduces small drift, whole rig bends under g-force, suspension works smooth and dust hits the air - maaaan nothing tops that :D

i will be ordering smaller spur gear and bigger pinion gear to try that out since i already tried it on 3s. slight speed upgrade is probably needed but not too much since i dont want to turn it into slash ;)

imo TT all the way :D

as for durability - it is much slower than slash so when you hit something it will survive ;)

Yeah, if you want better handling, better overall performance, and better durability, get a Slash. If you want a Yeti Score, get a Losi Baja Rey instead. "thumbsup"

in regards to pure bashing and handling, a yeti isnt even in the same league as a slash4x4 especially in stock trim. i have them both, love them both, but they are different rigs.

if you are wanting something to go really fast and jump skatepark style stuff the slash is what you want. if you just want a bit more speed and handling than your wraith but still be able to crawl and hit the trails, get the yeti.
