Axial C10

how deep is this "deep bed" axial claims? i haven't seen any pics to see how... shallow... it is.

*yes i realize the irony coming from a guy who drives a ford with a "tonneau cover" style bed.

Deep beds are cool if you have cantilever or leaf sprung rear suspension, or if you're okay with cutting holes for shock towers or having your body mounted WAY too high.

I have been looking at this body a lot and I do like it - the gussets bother me but I understand why they used them. I still would have preferred a 2-piece body (you can easily mitigate the sag using properly located fasteners, and more than two).

Ultimately I think I'll buy one and its always great to have another Chevy option.

I think they are trying to justify the cost because of the detailed parts that come in addition to the Lexan shell - chrome grille, grille backing plate in black, bumpers, light lenses, windshield wipers, mirrors, door handles, near-Tamiya level decal sheets:

At least it comes with a lot more than the similarly-priced Traxxas Bronco body!

It comes with all of that awesome... including the little triangles between the cab and bed. I just don't get it. They were so close. I haven't been into this hobby forever so I'm sure there is a good reason that I simply don't understand. Why are those there? You can't tell me they couldn't work around those.

Not certain if it's done for strength or for easier Lexan molding, or both - but it's a sore spot for me on many Lexan bodies.

At least on the Proline Sumo it looks almost like rollbar tubing:

It's done to prevent creasing in the forming process. Without them there will be horrible creases in that area.

The material cant shrink so it has to go somewhere.

Cool looking weathering job, I'm just stuck on the fact that it has the wrong hood style for the grill that they're using. I made mention of this earlier when the first pics of the body showed up in this thread. Those posts got cleaned up ( removed ) for some reason. Maybe someone will make a "correct" '69- '70 or a '71-'72 grill. It's still nice to see some old iron being represented instead of a generic truck-ish shape. "thumbsup"

Okay the "deep bed" isnt very deep but its deeper than mine and at least a skilled fabricator could cut the bed floor out and extend the inner walls with styrene for a true drop bed if they wanted.

*okay yeah would it have killed them to do what proline does and make the cab and bed separate. Yeah yeah I know it sags but this is axial I'm sure they could have made some sort of anti-sag... Bed bra?

Perhaps an extra piece of plastic that joins the two halves & creates the gap between the cab & bed. Maybe it even rests on the chassis rails.

You're right. My guess is they use they reuse most of the Blazer mold, which is correct for a '69. IRL, '67-68 Chevys (and GMCs from 67-72) used different fenders and hoods than '69-72 Chevys.

Still it's badass. And yes, I'll be using the '69 Blazer grille that you can buy separately on the C-10 body.

It would need the body up higher or some trimming beyond the body line for the wheel wells. Here are a couple pics with the traxxas canyon trails, these are 4.65” and wouldn’t clear with compression on either side.

It would look dope with the Knight's Custom hood and front fender kit and the Trail King's V8

This body definitely lends itself to a class 0ish build, Could be good for class 1 if you cut a section out of the bed.

I just finished up mine on some 96 mm Dirt Grabber clones.

On my TK I already have 4.75" tires so I need to find a body to fit those. I'd definitely like to build something for this C10 body though.

It's Tamiya PS-14 Copper.

One issue I had with this body was the rear bumper is way out there, I could not make it work with the HPI Venture without extending the bumper mount
