Axial C10

Major fail in not making this a 2-piece design, and instead using those awful gussets/braces from the cab to the bed. This had a ton of potential but I can't unsee those and it ruins it for me :(

Not that it will keep me from buying one, but the pickup should have a longer wheelbase than the Blazer. I think the Blazer wheelbase is closer to scale - shortbed C-10s have more fender in front of the rear wheel well.

Sorry to throw cold water on you Axial, but scalers be scalers! :lmao:

The Blazer wheelbase is 12" and the Pickup is 12.3".

After you mentioned that I can't unsee them!

So close Axial...so close.

I hate those gussets too, but hit the bed and the gussets with some flat black paint, and they mostly disappear.

Proline has the same gusset in their Stampede & Slash bodies. I did a Silverado body in silver for my Stampede, and painted the bed and the gussets in truck bed liner. They disappeared pretty well. I did the same treatment to the Slash body in the pic below. It's less noticeable because the back of the truck is black too, but the gusset still mostly disappears.

That's a Band-Aid and while it does hide the gusset it we shouldn't have to do that. If Tamiya made the body it wouldn't have gussets. See the LandFreeder body as an example.

I didnt notice it at first but now that you point it out.....

I don't disagree, but the body is what it is. If you otherwise like the body, my solution helps mitigate the problem.

To be honest, the gussets bother me less than the 2 piece bodies from Proline that always sag in the middle and end up looking like a POS with rusted cab mounts. :lmao:

Yes, you offer a good solution. I wasn't trying to diminish it. I just think the manufacturers need to do better.

My Power Wagon is doing the sag and it drives me nuts! I'm going to fix that before it's mounted for sure.

I think a lot of it comes down to giving the body more strength and rigidity. If they didn't add the gussets, people would be complaining about cracked bodies. I think we both know the average Axial customer is harder on their truck than the average Tamiya customer. ;-)

You make a point, but Axial makes scalers not bashers. Cater to your market.

I wouldn't pay 70 bucks for this
:

Looks off a lil, thats just my opinion tho.

I think it looks OK. The short bed trucks were short. I won't pay $70 for it either. Proline has something similar for under $50, but you have to deal with an inch shorter wheelbase.

My buddy runs the 12.6" wheelbase "long bed" on his Ascender and it doesn't look bad, fairly proportionate for a true short bed really: https://www.prolineracing.com/bodie...x-e-revo-revo-3-3-mgt-long-bed-clear-body.asp

...but it doesn't have the nice detailed hard pieces like this Axial body. I'm in the middle of putting an RC4WD Tacoma body on my son's truck right now, and those "hard" pieces really up the ante for lexan bodies, I'd say they justify the higher pricing, even though $70+ can be a hard pill to swallow when we're used to $35-$40 all lexan bodies.

it's an even harder pill to swallow when you're used to $20-30 Stampede & Slash bodies.

how deep is this "deep bed" axial claims? i haven't seen any pics to see how... shallow... it is.

*yes i realize the irony coming from a guy who drives a ford with a "tonneau cover" style bed.
