Auction 1.9 Brute benefit build 4 Briansbodies w/ RPP Hobby, RC4WD,& CrawlerGraphics

This looks great! I think this is the first actual Brute someone is building."thumbsup"

why leafsprings in the rear ? it wouldbe much more scale if you did coils like the real thing .

Thanks for all the comments! its coming along nicely. I have been wrenching on the 1:1 jeep for the upcoming weekend.

True, but many leaf springs were donated to the build, and several 1:1 TJs have leaf springs swapped in the rear for stability....also the Egyptian military TJs have leaf springs in the rear from the factory...Soooo maybe this is a modified Egyptian military TJ? Just to be a bit different.

You could just say it's a truggified J8

Well, a J8 is based off the JK platform, and an Egyptian Militiary TJ is based on the TJ platform, but they have similarities like rear leaf springs...as far as I know :)!

here is a military TJ...maybe it has rear coils...not sure anymore.

I guess it will have to be a truggified Brute with rear leafsprings :)!

The build looks great so far. I'm glad you could use some of the parts i gave Brian. I'll keep up with the build and maybe I'll be lucky enough to buy them back!

Thanks for the parts. I should have a new update soon. I got swamped with other work if you can imagine that! :)

Thanks pantablo! So just to keep you all up to date I also wanted to show some pics of the 1:1 work I have been doing. I have owned a 49 CJ3A since 2000 and it has seen many changes. Recently I finally got around to tying in the cage to the frame and building some rocker guards. I Then drove the old girl to Glamis to wheel with some friends which was AWESOME!:

Also as promised I got some more done on the scale Brute for the auction to benefit Brian.
I built these down bars that will connect the cage to the rocker guards and eventually the frame (not such a great picture, but you get the idea):

I then was not sure what to do for rocker guards. I wanted some that I could braze to so I could add some detail i.e. kick-out tubes. I finally figured it out. start with some 3/4-inch quare tube, cut it into two right angle bits of steel by filing down two of the corners.:

rocker guards are well under way thanks to a file, a hack saw and a mini spot weld note the slight curve to match the back of the cab:

next, kick out tubes!
