Attn: NEWBIES POST HERE<<<<<<

Hey guys. New guy here from Austin. Really looking forward to talking scale with you guys. I'm big fan of Highmark and his work on the rules committee. He is the one who turned me on to this forum.

I'll post pics of my first build shortly.

Hi, name is Jesse I'm from south MS, have been in rc on and off for a while. Just getting back into it was wanting to race short course but there aren't any local clubs. I have been looking into the scale stuff for a while and thought it was cool, and happened to find a local crawling club so I'm researching trying to figure out what I want to crawl with. I want something to build to look like my jeep.

Hey everyone. New to hear but not to crawling, been out of rc for about 4 years and just getting back into it. My wife and I live in bend oregon at the moment but soon to be back in billings montana. Currently working on a clodbuster super crawler but have had everything from a built t1e berg and beetlejuice bully to built toyota hardbody truggy. Wanting to build another berg when I can afford it.

Hi,

My name is Severino, from Venezuela. I am about to take a step at the beginning of the RC Crawler, I am currently in the world of Multicopteros with 4 models.

I own two rc cars. One in 1/8 Buggy with combustion engine, and another 1/18 electric.

I want to start my project with an MST cfx-w.

Sup everyone,

Im new, from New England and I havent got my first crawler yet but I will be soon. It will actually be my first RC as well, and Im jumping right in with an SCX10ii kit. I posted a thread here on the forums asking for some advice for parts and what not, but my post just hasnt shown up yet..not sure why.

I'm from New Jersey, my friends got me into crawling. I don't have a rig yet, but i'm looking to build one from scratch. I used to run a Nitro truck years ago but because of ignorance I went through a ton of parts, and I lost my job at the time and had to let the truck go.
I'm looking to build on the SCX10 chassis. I want to build from scratch because of all the parts I upgraded in my old nitro car. I feel like it's a bit of a waste to buy RTR when i'm just going to replace everything to get it to look and run the way I want it to. But i'm looking for advice and opinions from anyone and everyone on the best way to go about it.

Just saying hi. Newbie here from Okotoks, Alberta, Canada. New to crawling RC's but not to RC's in general. Have a couple Traxxas bashers and have had Nitro's in the past. But recently picked up an SCX10 Trail Honcho. Can't wait to get out and hit the trails and rocks. Hope to learn a lot here. "thumbsup"

Hi all, mine name is Jeff, aka CT Yankee, and I am from southern New England. I am new here but not to the RC hobby. I have been out of the car/truck game for a long time, but got the bug to get into scale trail and crawling. I have added an ECX Barrage to my mix of cars, buggies, planes, helicopters, and quadcopters. I started with mods as soon as the truck arrive yesterday, and have a bunch of ideas in mind going forward.

Hello all, maybe a dumb ? but why buy a rear steer rig then "lockout" rear steer as a mod? vs buying an E10. Just wondering. Thanks,

Hey from Northern mn. I got a vaterra ascender almost 2 years ago, had a blast with it in the mud and parked it in the garage over the winter... lipo was beyond shot after several months below 0 so it sat until I bought a 1:1 k5 that needed a little buddy. Just dropped a bunch of money on a battery, fast Eddy bearing kit, diff cover, mip cvd, aluminium knuckles so I can get brass wheel weights later. Oh yeah, and I got 2.2 beadlocks with rc4wd 5.75" iroks before it was parked. I just took out the foams which are surprisingly stiff and I'll be experimenting with those which brings me to my question:
How do I learn how to tune suspension components? I've read you want the rear at least as stiff as the front but the whole truck feels so stiff as it is...

Check out the section specifically on the ascender and in that, start with natedogs ascender build....from there you will come across a few others who also have a ton of info on the truck.

I think general concensus is that the suspension has too much travel so a lot of people limit the shocks internally and also run with quite a lot of droop, 50% or more (I don't want to speak for everyone...but I've never seen anyone trying to get more travel...just less). These 2 things lowers your center of gravity quite a lot and helps with climbing and side hilling. Hope that helps and gives you a place to start!
