This was sent to me from Gun Owners of America; and I thought I'd pass it along in case my fellow Second Amendment supporters wish to conveniently contact their representative (it only takes a minute!):

We have reached the point in the battle over ObamaCare which will decide whether we win or lose.

The details of Speaker Nancy Pelosi's bill are in, and they can be seen at http://docs.house.gov/rules/health/111_ahcaa.pdf .

The bill (H.R. 3962) is 1,990 pages long and weighs over 20 pounds. And even though a search of the bill will not reveal the word "gun" or "firearm," that doesn't mean the bill is neutral in regard to your Second Amendment rights.

For starters, this bill will -- like all the ObamaCare versions before it -- most likely result in all of your gun-related health data being dumped into a government database that was created in the stimulus bill. This includes any firearms-related information your doctor has gleaned... or any determination of PTSD, or something similar, that can preclude you from owning firearms.

The bill will also create special "wellness" programs in section 112 which would allow the government to offer lower premiums to employers who bribe their employees to live healthier lifestyles -- and nothing within the bill would prohibit rabidly anti-gun HHS Secretary Sebelius from decreeing that "no guns" is somehow healthier.

The bill purports to cut Medicare by $500 billion -- in a move which will result in massive rationing for seniors, while ultimately adding hundreds of billions of dollars to the deficit.

The bill will mandate that you purchase expensive government-approved policies and will (according to some studies) triple your insurance premiums through taxes and government requirements.

Of course, this all means that you will have less money to spend on pursuing your real passions -- like providing for your family and purchasing guns and ammunition!

ACTION: Write your Representative. Tell him or her to oppose this bill. Don't be discouraged by reports in the liberal media which have tried to tell us -- since January -- that this battle is hopeless. We can win, and, with your help, we will win.

You can use the Gun Owners Legislative Action Center at http://www.gunowners.org/activism.htm to send a pre-written message to your Representative.

----- Pre-written letter -----

Dear Representative:

The Pelosi health care bill, sponsored by Rep. Dingell, has now been made public.

For starters, this bill will -- like all the ObamaCare versions before it -- most likely result in all gun-related health data being dumped into the government database that was created in the stimulus bill. This includes any firearms-related information that doctors have gleaned... or any determination of PTSD, or something similar, that can preclude a person from owning firearms.

The bill will, according to some studies, triple insurance premiums through taxes and government requirements -- while mandating that Americans purchase expensive government-approved policies.

But, perhaps most instructively, there is this: Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid promised to produce a $900 billion bill which would not add "one dime" to the deficit.

This bill will cost $1.3 trillion and will increase the deficit by AT LEAST $150 billion.

The only way Pelosi or the Congressional Budget Office can continue to pretend to the contrary is to take $247 billion in bill costs and slip them through in separate legislation.

In short, this process is fraudulent.

I have many issues with this legislation. And so I urge you to oppose this legislation and keep the government from inserting itself even more into my everyday life.

Sincerely,

That bitch needs to be ended.....

Taking money from the elderly who cannot help themselves to give it to able-bodied lazyasses who can is very wrong.

Well, it looks like Reid, Pelosi and Obama are now going behind to backs of the Republicans and holding closed door meetings to get this bill passed through the Senate:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34298992/ns/politics-health_care_reform

I love how the article says that "Medicaid would grow" but fails to mention how much of a hit Medicare would take!

BTW, I am proud of the comments made in the article by my state's Senator (John Cornyn)!

Edit--it looks like they pulled the quote by Cornyn....

Like everything else they have done. Backdoor, backroom, closed door, partisan politics.

Quote:

"Going forward, anytime the American people want to know something that I or a former president wants to withhold, we will have to consult with the Attorney General and the white house counsel, whose business it is to ensure compliance with the rule of law. Information will not be withheld just because I say so; it will be withheld because a separate authority believes my request is well-grounded in the Constitution. Let me say it as simply as I can: transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency,"

- Barack Obama

Maybe it's a negative interpretation?

To that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as its been interpreted and Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties.

-Barack Obama

How did this fawking maniac get elected?

I hate that cocks^(ker more everyday!!!

I am all for gun control... If they could wave that magic wand and make all guns go away I would be for it, but, saddly, they can't, so I think I would like to hold on to the guns I have.

The thought behind this is take away your freedom to protect you from yourself. I would prefer to have the freedon to protect myself.

As far as President Obama goes, I would have more faith in him if he'd tackle one big issue at a time, right now the economy is a lot more important than health care. If he'd fix it, instead of having his domestic attentions scattered, I would have a little bit more faith in him.

I don't think people vote with their hearts at all, and certainly not with their brains. They align themselves with a party and accept the dribble the party craps out by the party's media machine (GOP & Fox News; DEMs & CNN). People just don't realize the politics of the news they are given and who is behind it. That is why I am a liberally conservative independent. "thumbsup"

This last presidential election brought out a lot of people who have never voted before and simply wanted to be part of a "historical event"....

great scott----if you watched fox news on a regulare basis, you would notice that we drill our elected officials when they arent conservative enough.or on the wrong side of an issue.

bush got hammered numerous times during his eight years.
BY FOX AND ITS COMMENTATERS

so to say that dems just listen to the propaganda by thier party is fairly correct.

but most conservatives are very well informed on most of the issues and have a clear stance on the issues,we are not so easily swayed by the poles of public opinion or the typical media type propaganda.

I disagree with some of the ideas of the right

I am disgusted by the ideas pushed by the left.

dems. used to stand for the little guy,not anymore
as most of us little guys like our country the way it was founded and would vote to keep gov. out of our lives as much as possible.

now the dems. are fighting for the liberal agenda and little else.

if you are a dem.
how do you feel, being a member of a party, that has little to no repect for the constitution?
it says alot about you.

any elected official that does anything to threaten the constitution, should be tried for treason.

I disagree with the death penalty as it is unconstitutional, however those rights protected by the constitution do not extend to enemies or traitors.

Wow, now Obama is claiming that if Health "Care" (really, he means "insurance") is not reformed then the Government will go broke! (saw this on CNN just now, but cant find a news article)

I guess when the truth wont get you what you want, just lie to the people of this country!

Maybe the government is going broke because it keeps borrowing money like the recent 300 billion just to operate all this crap.

Tell me this: How does one buy themselves into prosperity by accumulating massive amounts of debt? This goes for GWB too and the money through out like cheap tricks during his two terms.

Everytime I hear "Healthcare Reform" I laugh inside. Either I have the definition of "Reform" wrong or the goverment does....

We? You got a mouse in your pocket, or do you work for Fox?

I do watch Fox and CNN regularly, I also watch the english translated version of Al kazera, this way I can keep tabs on everyone that would do me harm. There are people on those networks that drive me nuts, but the top two are Beck and Huckabee, those two are nuttier than a fruitcake.

Didn't Pres. Obama say that he was going to reach across the isle and bring both parties together? I could be wrong, but it seems like this "Health Care Reform Bill" has put up a big damn wall between the two parties.

To reform health care you need to do four basic things:
1. Lower the cost of medical training.
How about grants for medical students that get a 3.5gpa or higher
2. Lower the cost of meical equipment
Tax breaks for those companies that have produce medical equipment
3. Lower the cost of medical facilities
Tax breaks for medical institutions
4. Force the insurance companies to pay full medical bills instead of only paying part of the bill. Medical institutions have to raise their rates to compensate for what the insurance companies don't pay...

I've been saying this over and over....and I'm glad to hear that there are others out there that actually understand the system. Medicare sets the reimbursement rates and they pay ~1/3 of the amount that is billed to them. Yes, the GOVERNMENT sets the standards for what ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES PAY OUT! That same government that is making the claim that private insurance companies will "bankrupt" the government. Then, the media reports the amount that the hospital/private practice bills....which is inflated by ~66% and claims that health care is costing too much. It's ridiculous!
