AnimalHippie's Trx-4 Adventure

Great job on the pocket led light to lightbar! E6000 is great for building and repairing so many things! Black is final outside paint color?

Thank you Nate! That means allot coming from you sir:mrgreen: I learned about all the great uses of E6000 from you my friend. I must have asked you 100 times for all different applications about adhesive and I think every time the answer was E6000. You need a E6000 t-shirt! Yes for now it will be black. I'm planning on a new body for my rig. So this one might get some weathering and stuff done at a later date. I was just tired of that red and wanted to experiment

Will take a while to retrain my eyes to be able to quickly identify Justin's BLACK Defender lol! Nice, man... Can't go wrong with black imo. "thumbsup"

Paint done! Cage repaired! New windows! Caught a huge bass! Took it on the rocks for a few mins. Might get back out there later or tomorrow. Here's some pics!

No way I'd put a fish in my arb unless it was cleaned already...... Nice catch. The paint looks like an upgrade too

Went out for a night run testing some lights I've been messing with. Was a blast just running from lights of your rig. Took a couple pics, but night photography not so good. Oh and put a few scratches in the new paint :lmao: It was gonna happen some time. Why not now?

If you like the black and when you're ready for a new paint job try duplicolor bed liner paint in aerosol, it doesn't work very well for 1:1 use in my opinion because it's no where near as thick as Rhinoliner but for R/C applications it works great, it's also available in olive green, brown, tan, and clear now too. Just scuff up with scotchbright and spray, I'm prepping my Bronco for this soon. It holds up really nice and touches up easily. Here's a link to an old build that I did this paint job on, it's toward the end.

The next paint job this rig gets will be a wore out dinged and dented old truck look. It's half way there already. I was thinking about using something like that, but was worried about the weight. This body weighs in at 1lb 7oz/657grams as of right now and still have a couple more things I would like to put in the bed. I will also be mounting my light strips in the fenders. So that will add a little more to the body. I had a blast running last night. Light placement is everything when it comes to your rock lights. I'm gonna play around with them some more before I decided on the permanent placement.

The weight of this paint is minimal compared to the real stuff, it's kinda of like textured paint, but I get exactly what you're saying though. "thumbsup"

I was sent to the garage for a few while the wife bought a few last min cyber Monday things. This is what happen in a short period of time. Dry mounted the hard rubber 5"x2.5" v treads off the new bright grave digger on my stock trx rims. They would probably be perfect on 2.2 rims. No good for climbing but if I ever wanted to get crazy and go mudding. Here's some pics

Played for a few mins this evening after putting up the Christmas lights. Did some tuning to my shocks the other night. Softened the front a little and stiffened the rear a good bit. Seems like it's doing better up the steep climbs. Don't know if my driving is getting better or the little tweeks here and there are making a difference. The side Hill is going allot better. Here's a few pics from today.

The wife was out with friends and the girls were in bed. So i went for a night crawl. Running my rig is almost like raking the Zen garden for me. Was a beautiful night. There's a family of at least 3 great horned owls that live in our neighborhood. They were all talking to each other while i was out back. One sat high in a tree in the wooded lot next to our house for a while when i first went out back. About half way through my run it had to come check what was going on and flew down to the fence post about 30ft from me. I guess it was the wife owl cause it wasn't impressed and left after a few mins. LoL! Here's a few pics. Not the greatest but phones aren't all that good for night time photography. Off to work i go! Have a great day!

Hey Justin, seeing all the photos of your rocks puts me right back at your place playing tiny trucks with you and Joss. Great memories, just small slice of what our trip was all about!!!. You should get your surprise package Monday, it's a build that has been resting on my shelf for a little while. I think you might like it. Ok, no more hints!!!"thumbsup"

No idea why this part was so funny to me... Okay maybe I have some idea lol.

Man... We have a family of barred owls ( also at least three that I regularly hear talking back and forth). There is just something about owls that is so captivating and almost surreal. I rarely see them but every once in a while one will fly off from a tree-top and just leave me in awe. Incredible how silent they are when taking flight or landing. Okay... derail over lol.

Really digging what you're doing with the rock lights... always tuned in to the adventure.

Was great running your rigs on the course! Can't wait to bring my rigs to your course. Maybe one day. Yours might make it back to my course first . That was an awesome trip! Can't wait to see you guys again!

Wait... What? Ernie really? You're too much brother! You definitely didn't have to do that. I was excited before. Now I'm beside myself. Thank you guys! I'm beyond appreciative.

Thought you guys would get a kick outta that. It's funny how it did that. Coulda swore it shrugged it's shoulders before it took off. :lmao:

We love owls. They're such amazing animals. The silent flight and turning their head all the way around blows me away. The one likes to drive the dog nuts in the backyard.

Thanks for tuning in for the adventure! I'm still working on the lights. Would like to get some into the wheel wells to get some light on the tires, but for now these will do. I like night running more then running in the day now. It's more of a challenge and i like a challenge. "thumbsup"

Spent some time tinkering on the Trx today. Installed my DIY rock light kit. Haven't finished it up, but have tested it. Think it might be too bright but I'll check later on the backyard course. Have a on/off switch and some soldering and tightening up all the wires left to do. Gave the mud pie pit crew a 101 on soldering. I'm so glad they like to work on stuff with me. Here's a few pics. Will take a few pics on the course once it gets dark.

Nope I was wrong. With them being warm white instead of cool white it's very easy on the eyes. Still really bright tho. I definitely like them. Only $20 into building this light kit. Can't beat it! Will do a DIY Thread when I do the same to the dingo. Think I will only do one section of these LEDs per fender on it. Here's some pics!
