Well, I finally bit the bullet and turned my wallet inside out.
I told AmainHobbies to ship me a VS4-10 pro. Along with a bunch (not all necessary) other parts. And some china-special rims***
Do I need the car? nope. Is the added rigidity required for my driving style?not really (or I keep telling myself). But I’m a sucker for engineering and this car is as close as you can get how I would design my car. The design requirements used are the same as I like to aim for in my own builds. though limited tools make them hard to achieve.
I don’t wan’t complicating iems as portals and 2-speed ( nothing wrong with them, just not my thing). But anything that is mounted should be bulletproof.
After* along wait the tracking app woke up the saturday before easter; I could collect a package at my local post office.
That kinda changed the saturday planning. starting with: “no,no. I’m just checking to see if it’s all there” and ended with: ”Are you coming to diner or what?”
I will spare you lot a detailed epos of the build. There are lot to be found on the www.
I’ll just share my experience.**
NOt to take anything away from Axial and alike, but this a different ballgame. The price difference is feld in every part. This assembles itself. Fitment of the metal parts is top. except when screwing into plastic the hexbolts can be fitted with a hexbit without grip.
Axles feel solid and run very smooth.
Chassis rails are nearly twice the height of the Axial version (my only reference) Plastic braces are big, lumpy and stiffen everything up big time.
The transmission feels massive and almost snaps together. It runs smooth as butter in spite of the many gears.
I haven’t received my motor and ESC yet. So 5yr old parts from a deceased Wraith will have to do for now. A €30 Hobbyking ESC and the motor that has been soldered internally.**
It doesn't compliment the first driving experience.
It seems kind of complicated to find a reasonably priced sensored, 4s capable ESC. After another ‘okay then…’ I ordered a Mamba X. (the trailmaster is for another build)
