I want to build a drift car and I'm leaning toward RWD. Curious what everyones thoughts are 4WD vs RWD. Also interested in what chassis recommendations anyone cares to offer.

I'm also starting RWD Drifter, I'm using a new Tamiya TT02 chassis kit and need to order parts to get the conversion started

There is also cs drifting, which is basically a normal 4wd drift car were the rear end spins faster than the front.

For me 50/50 and cs are somewhat boring although I’ve never ran either for very long, and rwd is a handful to even drive in a straight line without a gyro.

I’m currently in the process of getting my feet wet with rwd drifting with a stretched 3racing d4 rwd with a stock length mojave body on it.

yup, what they said.

i would recommend 4wd for learning the dynamics of it, then moving to RWD with gyro, maybe even with the same car like kgb424 is doing with a TT02. im actually about to convert my old TT01 drifter i think. we both have threads about our TT's lol
so yeah grab a TT02 and lock the diffs (i used epoxy on the spider gears), toss some drift tires on and have a blast! there are tons of upgrade parts for the TT02 and its VERY affordable, so its a great starter car.

its funny, i see a LOT of scale crawler guys jumping on the drift scene lately, its a good thing! more great ideas to share and cool stuff to see!

I just found this 1/10 HobbyKing® Mission-D 4WD GTR Drift Car (ARR) for $80.00 before shipping

I’ll be making a build thread for the d4 hopefully soon, I just want to get the extension pieces remade out of steel.

A stock d4 or the upgraded black version is fairly cheap if you can wait the time for it to get here from China
