2016-2017 rules and new ideas discussion

So let me wrap my head around this, we are having Worlds and Nationals??

**OK caught up on all the posts. This is a great opportunity for RC Crawling. I can't wait to hear more info.**

Isn't it already 11th time? :flipoff: Just a note. That surely sounds like a group who can build one hell of an event! "thumbsup"

2006 was the first Nats. So this is the 10th year, but dangit it is the 11th event! I count wrong when I told Joel! Last year wasn't called tenth annual, so I'll accept this as being 10th annual

Sounds Great! I like where this is heading! I'll throw my hat in the ring. Anything you guys need let me know!

Yes.

My loose take on the topic is that, if the event is attended by drivers from a large number of states, the event is National. If it is attended by drivers from a large number of countries, its Trans-National...or Worlds.:ror:

Literal Nut

From the racing world of RC ..... Anything held in its own country no matter who attends is a National. USA would always be a National event that any country can attend just like Europe had their Nationals last year and anyone of us could have attended.

Worlds is worlds because its constantly moved around to different countries.

They are always kept separate.

Does this mean RCOVA is dead now or will the new crew be continuing with it?

I know this is early and you probably don't have all the details worked out yet, but What about Qualifiers?
Will there be any? who will be allowed to hold them?

I really like where this is going and thank you to Joel, Jake and Eric for stepping up and taking this on.

The RCORVA site is alive and well. Registration for the 2016 RC Rock Crawling Championship will be directed through RCORVA when we have things set up. Regarding "Qualifiers", since there are no longer sufficient rock crawling gents to allow the old exclusionary practice of "qualifiying", "Qualifiers" is just another name for a big ass, non-club, road-trip, balls out good time on the rocks. Have all of the Qualifiers you want as far as I'm concerned. The more gatherings the better. Right now, the three of us are organizing a single, year end event, set to determine who's game reigns supreme in front of the back-drop of a damn good time. We really hope that top dogs from around the country and world show up. We don't discriminate...unless you are from Canada.

Woah! Lets be clear.

Joel just means that we dont like the Canadian PEOPLE and they are not welcome.... we were not talking about all things Canadia, like their bacon. Please send bacon.

Let not go and complicate things by adding international drivers....they might get confused that this will be worlds....... then we'll be buried in used shoes........ Love ya Kev!

Canadians are not international, we don`t have to cross water to get to you.
Were your brothers from another "thumbsup"

I like the direction this sounds. And like Robbob, because it is starting to mimic a working RC organization that has lasted.

IMO the only change I'd like to see could make international travel easier to plan/save for. There should be nationals held yearly, anyone can come and win - no qualifiers, no special VIPs. The worlds should be held every 2 years, and planned out well in advance. To allow those who want to go time to get passports, travel costs, and the like all set up with plenty of time to handle the details. Plus it should take longer to organize so the every other years helps organizers too.

I think worlds could happen every year with out a problem, but if thry want more participation from US drivers worlds organizers need to be planning 2+ years in advance as far as location and dates.

BTW fall dates are cool and all but makes it hell or impossible for any teachers to participate, especially if travel is more than 7 hours.

I specifically asked that the date be moved so that teachers and people with kids could attend this year. But it's not my call and they will manage the event as best as possible.

Moving Worlds is a bummer for many US drivers. I'll get rolling as early as possible for 2017 hosts. It's certainly a technical challenge to plan travels abroad, but we have had plenty of folks come to the US events with barely months advanced notice on locations.
