2014 RC4WD East Coast Scale Challenge (August 22-24)

James...I was really enjoying your post until your last 4 words. LOL

As I have said to many of my long time friends...and it applies here...

Small trucks brought us all together...a friendship that will never fall apart.

Man, I'm so glad class 1 scores weren't affected. I was praying that I had actually landed a honest 10th place, lol. That is the best score I've ever had at a comp (short of small local stuff) I chalk it up to the great competition, drivers and courses constantly pushing the envelope and ourselves to be better builders and mature as drivers. The most embarrasing bit from this comp was falling down the hill at the KOTR. But let me just say this. I was shocked at how many people stopped running (literally) to see if I was ok and to make sure I wasn't badly hurt. It was heart warming believe it or not to see how connected we all are as enthusiests of this hobby. To me it's a family, not a bunch of strangers and that's what keeps me coming back. I was humbled to recieve the awards in the Show N Shine as well. Thank you to all of those who voted for my truck. For those who didn't, you're driving me to find that extra touch that will earn your votes next year. It may seem simple, but those $0.50 ribbons mean alot to me. I got to meet alot of customers and online friends that I've never met in person and co-pilot for the man with the hardest name to pronounce, Mr. Shane Szczerba. Big Chad W. (Chad30W), Charlie (CD13), Zack (AKA Shrek) and Shane (Szczerba) make the best camping partners and kept me in stitches the whole time. How many hobbies can you say bring this type of friendship? I can't think of many. How many sports do you see guys taking parts off of their rigs to get others back on the trail? Very few. How many sports would a guy who's on the clock stop to check on a fellow driver? Again, the answer is very few. I'm truely honored to be a part of this family and to be accepted into this sport with open arms. With all that being said I have only one question to ask....

IS IT AUGUST YET?!?!?!

What an awesome weekend! I had soo much fun, (maybe too much fun at one point...) that I'm almost mad I missed the 1st ECSC last year. Everybody I met seemed to be having such a great time. You've put together a top notch event John and everybody, thank you so much. Is it August 2015 yet??

One thing I really enjoyed was the amount of people that approached me and my wraith on Sunday. Tons of people loved that a stock-ish wraith like theirs was in the TTC and they really seemed to be rooting for me. Thank goodness for hobby express vending there, without them I would have been screwed when I broke on course 3 and wouldn't have even made TTC.

I've always wondered what was in the top performing trucks at events like these and this is the first time I've been in the position to share, so here it is.

Mamba max pro/bec, roc412 2300kv, steel tranny gears.
MIP driveshafts, Axial high speed gears (not overdriven) Locked UP F.I. spools.
Hitec 7950th servo
Vanquish Ti straight lower links/bent upers
RC4WD warn winch powered by a sidewinder micro
Rear swaybar, Axial aluminum shocks
R35 ripsaws w/ Crawlerinnovations foams

Keep it light and simple is really the only thing different about it than your average C3 rig. (all plastic axles, no 4ws or dig, etc.)

Id love to know some more about the other TTC rigs. Like what was BadBKO sporting under that Ford truck body that gave him the power to full pull the pulling sled?

THanks again to everybody including my MD/VA fellas. They were a HUGE help getting my last minute wraith together.

No so much what power I was running, but unlike your wraith, I have weight on my side. Plus we pull more than that at our local comps, up to 120lbs. So I was ready!! Lol
Which in the mud challenge, proved to be bad, and a broke VP vvd..which I have no clue why that happen.

What a great event, keeps getting more awesome each year. Amazing giveaways and the food truck this year was a nice touch. Great to meet some new people and put a face to the screen names on site here. The guys from Florida brought along some very nice looking mud trucks that I had the chance to witness running thru the mud pit. Much thanks to metalmasher for the spare axle housing that got me up and running again in the TTC as well as MJ & youngblood for help with the field repair! Can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store!!!

Lets see some video "thumbsup"

Thanks for the pictures guys - it's nice to live vicariously.

signed - the guy that drove 7 hours to work in his hotel room and then drive 7 hours home on Saturday morning to work some more.
