Ok I've added The HPI Grabbers by request.

I have also added a tire that might not be a 100% true comp tire.

The Rc4wd 2.2 Rok Lox. They might not be the Best 2.2 Comp Tire, but for a Scale Comp that allows 2.2's. They might be the best. These are the same rubber compound as the X-Locks and the best scale appearance Rc4wd or any other Company has produced yet. IMO .. I will be testing these on my Comp rigs on the same rocks and sections with all the others.

Pro-Line Chisel's Vs. X-Lock's




Chisel's Pro's:

• Improved Compound then past Pro-Line Tires
• Nice aggressive Tread pattern
• Good Side wall support
• Insane grip in the Rough stuff
• Nice Slow speed traction
• Tire height is nice for Clearance
• Tread Blocks have great foward bite

Chisel's Con's:

• Compound can be improved
• Aggressive tread blocks and undercuts don't mix
• High speed traction is lost
• Bounces at higher RPM's
• Not the bext tire for Slick Rock

Rc4wd X-Locks Pro's:

• Huge improvement over all of Rc4wd past Tire compounds
• One of the best for Slick Rock
• Tread Pattern is very thought out
• Works well in almost all terrain
• High Speed or Low Speed, Never gives up
• Low Bounce
• Tires Conform around anything well
• Tires keep there track well

Rc4wd X-Locks Con's:

• Sidewall is thin and soft, Needs foam support
• Thread is short and Compound is Soft, May cause tires to wear out fast
• Price is a little higher then other 2.2 Comp Tires
• Rc4wd has to fight their past History Tire compounds to sell to Mass's.

Both Tires seemed to Sidehill about the same. The Chisels would loose grip due to lack of traction. The X-Locks wouldn't loose grip, but on extreme off camber the side walls would give and pitch the rigs weight. Both of these tires could do better in this with more Foam tuning. But then might slack in the other areas where they shined at. As with any tire. There is no perfect Foam combo. I sudjest testing your own Foam Combo's and choose what you think will work best for you over all.

Over all Winner between these Two..

X-Locks:
Why I choose X-Locks.

The X-Locks is a better all around tire flat out. They ran everything the Chisels did and with better control. The X-Locks were more predictable in every thing. I was able to pull ledges with out using Front digs. Where with Chisels I had to use the digs to find traction to get the front to pull up. I believe the X-Locks did so well is a combo between their new Compound the stretchy rubber.

Like I've stated in other post. I will be giving the Chisels another go with Panthers F400 Non-Memory foams. These foams maybe what the Chisels need to really wake up and perform how I think they should.

Just got a set of Crawlr1 Foams... I thought I was getting one set of Foams, but I was surprised to get all three... WOW.... Big thanks to Crwler1


What Combo would you like to see in the Rovers using these Foams. Panthers I will run Panthers F400 Non Memory Foams for this Round of Testing.

Foams I have to test with...

Panther F400 and F500's
Pro-Line 2 stage Oversized Foams
5.25in and 6in Memory Makers
Crwler1 All three Soft/Med/Firm
Mod'd Stock Panthers
Pro-Lines Soft White Memory Foams
JConcepts Firm Orange Memory Foams

Looking for input here..

For testing the Rovers and Panthers... I can use all crwler1 foams..

Panthers with (Med inners and Firm Outers)
Rovers with (Firm inners and Soft Outers) or (Soft inners and Med Outers)

Or I can use the Pro-Line 2 Stage in the Rovers.

Temp during testing should be 75 and above...

I think you need to run the F400 with the Panther.A couple of the local guys are running the F400 in there HB's with great results also.

Ok maybe im weird but since this is a comparison shouldnt all the tires use the same foams or the stock foams the tires come with? I know everyone runs their own choice of foam but it doesnt seem like a fair comparison using different foams in each tire.

I'm trying to take each tire to it's Max Performance capabilities. Using the Same foams or Stock foams while testing this many tires is just a half ass test. Because no one uses the same foams and everyone tries to get the most of there tires. Changing Foams and dialing in your Tires is a Huge part of turning your Crawler. It can make or break your Rig's performance.

Alright I will test The Panthers with Crwler1 Firm/Firm Foams and The Rovers I'll run Med/Med...

Next Round with the Panthers I will run F400's against the Chisels with the same F400 foams.

There is no optimum foam setup for any tire, that's all purely opinion based on setup and driver preference. The real test would be to test each tire with all the different foam combos to see which worked best for that tire, then see which tire works better in a given situation, but that would cost a lot of money out of pocket;-)

There are months and months of tuning on most of the tires out. To which extent there have been chosen a best foam setup for most applications. Which in turn will cut his costs and time spent taking apart beadlocks. From the results you should be able to pick a tire and tune the foam to your situation. Jmo and i am probably wrong in most peoples eyes.

My point is, the tuning and choice that the people testing them ended up with, is all personal preference for their rig and driving style, but I agree you could get in the ballpark with them."thumbsup"

X-Locks..I'll bring the Chisels, but I think I'll run X-Locks for it. It's a creek bed. The X-Locks did really well on this type of rock for me.

I'm going to try and mount up some 2.2 Rok Loks and run the Same Course to test them out as well.

Here are the 2.2 Rok Lox's. I know these are not Comp Tires, but I'm going to throw them in the Mix any way. I know they will be used in 2.2 Scale Comps. So this info will be useful to some.

I have these mounted up on JConcepts Plastic Beadlocks. Very nice Combo. These Beadlocks are built tuff and have a very strong hex area. I see no problems in the Future from these. Oh and they are Walker Evans...

Running Stock Foams with a Very Small Notch out of the Center. The Stock foams seemed pretty good. They are a big improvement over the Foams I got in my X-Locks. I don't suggest cutting the notch out. Leave the Foam uncut and try that first. These tires are going on a Scaler of mine and I wanted more squat from them.

If it doesn't rain I will run these on my Comp rig in the same rocks as the others. So everyone can see how they compare.
