1BadJeepBruiser's RC4WD Trail Finder 2 Now with more Bruiser suspension 3/2

Re: 1BadJeepBruiser's RC4WD Trail Finder 2 The OG Brown Yota scaler wannabe

Looks like the OG, which is one of the best builds of all time.

I love the kit and plan to get one, but it's also sad at the same time. I know it's evolution of the hobby but still. If the clone and this where both at a gtg most people would over look the clone even though it has more time and effort in it than this.

Looks amazing Mike. The original has always been one of my favorite rigs. This is a totally worthy reproduction. Nice job! "thumbsup"

Thanks dude, the clone was a beast for sure in its time...I am still pretty confident that if you put the 2 side by side the OG would draw a good crowd. It always did in the past "thumbsup"

Thank you sir!

Update! Its a RUNNER!

I robbed my SCX10 Comanchee of its 45 turn motor and Tekin FXR ESC. Found a JR590Z servo (overkill) for the shifting duties. A hitec 645 keeps the steering under control. You can see how I nearly routed everything.

And Finally out doors to do some test driving, 1st a few posers

I think this picture is real good, if it had inner fender wells it might have been damn near perfect!

Unfortunately my scale course is COVERED in heavy amounts of leafs. The truck had no problems plowing through them, but it was hard to keep them from sticking to everything and trying to get some good scale pics.

I started loosing day light fast and the sun started glaring all my pics so I headed back into the house.

1st impressions are real good "thumbsup" The ultimate yota axles have never giving me any issues in any of my rigs in the past. The trans shifted MINT every time. I did not try shifting it on the fly but every time I stopped and switched it engaged right away. The tires are very gripping and the truck had good wheel speed with the 45 turn...although I think a 35 turn would be best (have some on the way).

As of now, its back in the shop. I wrapped lead stick on weights around each inner bead lock ring. I am also in the process of stripping the chrome off of the front bumper.

Tomorrow I think we will start work on the interior.

Thanks for looking
-Mike

Re: 1BadJeepBruiser's RC4WD Trail Finder 2 The OG Brown Yota scaler wannabe

Been working on this the past 2 days...Here is what I have done:

Dready Slider mod (knocked 5cm off of them)
Trimmed lower valance and fenders accordingly
Stripped chrome off of front bumper
Applied SR5 silver stripes
35 turn pro lathe motor
Upholstered Brusier bench seat
Swapped in black version of the same wheels with silver stripping
Detailed grill
TOYOTA tail gate badge and marlin sticker like my OG had

Re: 1BadJeepBruiser's RC4WD Trail Finder 2 The OG Brown Yota scaler wannabe

That is some fantastic truck ya Built sir. Just amazed at RC4WD stepping up and going for the gold on these.

I certainly cant wait to own one myself.

Just a quick question for you. Is this body able to be modified like other plastic bodies?

I ask because the plan I have is not in the stock form as attractive as it is looking.
But over all for the price. Its freaking amazing what one gets."thumbsup"

Keep up the great work

Body is fully capable of modifications. Plastruct welding glue worked just as good as it does on a tamiya body. I used it to glue the rear window frame in and I did glaze the seams with filler. Even when trimming the front fenders with a dremel it cut like any other body.

Re: 1BadJeepBruiser's RC4WD Trail Finder 2 The OG Brown Yota scaler wannabe

I don't think the Clone of the Clone needs a snorkel, alters the look to me.

Re: 1BadJeepBruiser's RC4WD Trail Finder 2 The OG Brown Yota scaler wannabe

Yeah, but in 2007 the last time I saw it there was no snorkel. :ror:

Back out on the trails to give the stompers and weighted wheels a try. Huge improvement! Larger tires allow for better GC so I didnt catch the cross member as bad.

Today task was making it so that the leaf spring hangers were in the front and the shackles in the back...like 98% of yotas out there. I did this using OG Bruiser suspension parts and some 2/3 cell battery bars for shackles. The Bruiser hangers just need the one back corner trimmed off. Other then that, they line right up! I also pushed the axle forward on the leafs. The front leafs are chino leafs.

I also changed the rear suspension up, again using Bruiser suspension. I did not modify the holes in the frame, instead I slotted the one hole in the mount of the Bruiser shackle hanger. I also slid the axle forward as well in the back and I am running a bastard pack which includes a Bruiser main leaf and 2 chino leafs for helper leafs.
