10 year Tribute Build

Off to a first start with pins. Dug up 2 Boss Claws with decent beads and used my new to me cut and shaved ones. I have two different cuts on the rear for now and they aren't shaved. Still more on the way, so all good. Just wanted to put a set together and get a feel. There's really nothing challenging on my practice pile, but I do feel a difference. I'm used to the unpredictability of my rovers, so pins are going to be a learning curve for me. (there's nothing straight about me learning. It's all a damn curve. Lol).

Looks good Glen. Looks a little stiff to me, but that's me. I have around 7" or so of articulation. It's a bit much for most but works great for me.

I'm a little upset to see how easy you roll over with that cab.. When the SMASH came out, I asked for a Switch cab with the SMASH chassis.. They said "no go" the mounting holes don't line up.. So now I'm stuck driving around upside.. Lol..

Haha. I don't have much flex, but it does seem stiff to me. As it is, I'm running MRC Springs. I have MiniT Springs on hand. What combo you recommend?

I run mrc silvers.. So you have the shocks limited? Cause it's not the springs making it stiff. Unless you have the preload screwed down tight? What shocks you running again?

Edit.. Nevermind.. Get rid of the external limiters! Or atleast cut them in half, to be shorter

I'm hitting my left rear upper as it is. I've rotated it every direction possible. Should I get a rear mount to raise them up? Then I could eliminate the limiters. They are 4mm.
Please say "yes", that way I can spend more than I have so far. Wifey almost expects my outlandish budget. Bwahaha.

Left rear full stuff. Link hits motor. I cut a relief in motor guard, so that's not the problem. I'm barely touching my 4mm limiters, so eliminating them won't help. New upper link mount?

Hmmm.. Take the limiters off the front and see if that helps.
Also, ur rear lowers look custom? Check ur wheel base.
If ur under 12.5" then un screw ur lower link ends on ur rears. Try to tighten up the link ends on ur uppers.
It will roll/clock ur motor down and away from the bind.

Quick question. What would removing the limiters in the front do? Do I really need more flex, or is it just too stiff? I'll make sure to check my wheelbase during cycle. I got the links here in the classifieds, was under the impression that they were standard Chaotic. I'll unscrew lowers if I'm short. The upper rod-ends are screwed to max.

The amount of flex is up to you. I like a little more. Keeps tires on the ground. That way it's not teetering and rolling over, like in ur video.

Most chaotic links, that I have seen, are crisp bends. Not rolled bends like urs.

Heading to my 2nd comp of my career. Stoked! Hoping to finish all courses within time and place last. :) Baby steps.

Well, I wound up with a third place podium finish. There were only 3 of us, so it went as expected. Lol. I lost every course except for a 2nd on one. That's a victory to me. Seems so odd. When I'm just crawling with my buddies or practicing, I'm fine. Throw some tennis balls down and I become a wreck. Haha. Here's a part of a video of one of my runs. It's labeled "comp 6". It's only my 2nd comp, but 6th in the club's series. Jollyjeeper comp #6. June,1st-14: http://youtu.be/A4VKg1UoNR8

OK Chaotic guys. I'm having issues with my rear uppers. They rub the edges of the rear corners of the chassis. I know, we've been down this road before. The standard rule doesn't seem to apply to mine. Not sure now if they really are chaotic links. I've tried rotating them to where the chassis hits the cross-member under straight compression, but they hit the motor. I noticed yesterday practicing that on a straight climb or dig the chassis was sucking way down and rubbing the rear chassis brace screws and binding. I know the chassis brace is supposed to act as a stop on the links, but it seems wrong on mine.
Here's some pics of it. Some are under compression and binding on its own. Seems like I don't have much down travel before it hits and it even rubs on articulation.

I know I could unscrew a couple threads on the uppers to clock the motor down, but I'm afraid it will mess with my wheelbase and put the motor in the rocks. Thanks fellas!

What's it wheel base Glen?

I'm dead on 12.5in. I was thinking backwards. If I unscrew, I'll clock motor up and really mess stuff up. My rear uppers hit motor on articulation and catch chassis during articulation and compression. Maybe I'll do a bench video and post. I don't know what links these are, but may need a little tweaking.
