1:6 Willys GI Joe Basic Build

you really just mount everything to that plastic chassis? and is the transmission mounted to the plastic body or what? badass build brotha"thumbsup"

I think I just found one of these today at Goodwill thrift store in Olympia, Wa. I paid $3.99 for it. the drivers seat is broken and the tools are missing. I am thinking of building a frame for it and hang my pair of clod axles under it. Here are some pics. I am a new instant fan of these willys builds.

Yes .....everything is mounted to the plastic
I used a thin piece of rubber between the plastic and tranny
....to quiet the noise from the R2

clods will work ....but if you want to go shafty
just mount a skid plate to the transfer case
then mount the assembly to the jeep.
something like this:

or build a sub frame like this:

Looks an aweful lot like yours did with some of the same missing parts, maybe more. :ror:

I think I'm gonna do leaf spings though and probably make my own frame and I'm looking for axles and found these and am wondering if they'll be big enough and strong enough to hold up. http://www.axialracing.com/ftp/ax10options/AX30488.htm

Thanks for any and all help!!

Hello.....

Hi: I'm a new member, living in Barcelona, Spain. Sorry for my English is not too good... I'm looking to do one 1/6 Willys like yours but I don't know NOTHING about parts, where to buy it, ratios of diffs, gearboxes... Well, I want to know more. If somebody can help me sending links of stores, mechanical specs (ratios of diffs, kind of engines, for ex.), details or anything, believe me, I`ll be so thankful.... "thumbsup"I have a radio control for a plane, could it be used here?? Coils or leaf springs?? Regards from Barcelona!!!!

has anyone tried to use Kyosho Mad force axles for this kind of build?

I caught the bug for this willys jeep after seeing them at the RCX show. I have a Navy version of the jeep on its way to my house. Now I am trying to find all the bits needed.

Can someone give me a Width measurment from C-hub to C-hub that will work with this jeep?

Thanks for your help. :)

Personally I think Wheely King axles work the best.. Axial and TLT/Hilift axles work but will need to have wider hexes!
