1/6 Scale Nylint Crawler

I was blown away when I saw these things at walmart.

I've always wanted to build a clod based crawler but never had the money.

i figured what the heck it's worth a try so I grabbed one big one and one small one.

I don't really care for the smaller one.
the 1:6th scale one rocks.

what size motor do you think are in them i think 560S

I 'm not sure.

I had the front axle apart so I could pull the pin out of the axle and straighten the knuckle out so I could crawl in three wheel drive.
I was pretty drunk so I didn't really look at the motor.
It does have a cool little high low gear selection mechanism with it's own little motor.
I took that jeep back to Walmart today and got the new one then took it apart immediatly for mods and paint!

I'll tear into it again tomorrow and post up what I find as far as the motor.

I'll probably even see what I can do to imrove the steering torque.

Oh yah today in three wheel drive I was pushing my buddies ford ranger transmission around as I tried to crawl up it.

Wal-Mart availability

We believe that ALL Wal-Marts got a small shipment of them at about the same time. We have NO IDEA when they actually stock the shelves, but the large shipment arrived at the main Wal-Mart warehouse with all of that first shipment. Given the large number of stores, we think there may just be a dozen or so per store in this first shipment.

IF your W-M does not have them out, ASK the MANAGER, not the Clerk! The ONLY way these will be successful is for people to ASK for them. That is the only way the MANAGERS will request more!

We suggest you ask for the *SCORPION*, as they can clearly pass that request up the chain, since they already carry several different Jeeps. Every order has a mix of Scorpions and Jeeps, but the Scorpion request will make a bigger impact.

[And, yes, we did license them the Scorpion name and design, and directed the development of the amazing suspension to do justice to the FULL SIZE Scorpion.]

WOW! I will be at wally world today. If I dont see one, I will get one of my ex gfs (on great terms with her) to get the store manager for me. I wants one like yesturday.

Chris
ps, we need more info on the mods that may be released if you can.

So what will these Nylint/Funrise crawlers do to our small world of diehards?

Now there almost NEEDS to be a true spec class of crawlers, 1/6 Nylint(stock) and 1/18 Nylint(stock). No mods can be done to them. I'm down with it as it's my cheapest cralwer to date

I agree, that's why I started this thread but didn't get much feedback.

I just got the 1/18th last night. I'm very amazed at how capable these are even stock.

Now I'm fighting the urge to go lay $150 out for the 1/6th

Update on 1/6 Scorpion availablity + parts

A. 1:6 scale Scorpion version of the rock crawler will be available within four weeks at Wal-Mart. The first shipment they received seems to have been a container of 1:6 Jeeps. 1/18 seems to be mixed delivery.

B. Only several hundred of the thousands of Wal-Marts have Nylint Scorpions & Jeeps on the Shelves. More coming every day.

C. *PARTS* will definitely be available through the http://ScorpionCars.com web site at some point in the future. We are VERY interested in any drivetrain parts that DO break, (Jeep or Scorpion, 1/6 or 1/18) as we can still perform running changes to the engineering! We are amazed that with the initial abuse from a hardened crowd, we have so few reports.

Congrats to Funrise/Nylint on superior engineering, and the committment to back up your investments by selling spare parts. This ain't no ordinary TOY company!

The "manager" at my walmart is an idiot. he said they probably wont get them because we are a small walmart, he would not check the computer to even see if they would or not. he did say they had 15 pallets of stuff in the back but would not check the manifest to see what was on them. i would really like one or two.

Wal-Mart Managers

Wal-Mart is the largest and most successful Retailer on Earth! Let them know what you want, they DO take note, as this is a big promo item for the company. Get your friends to ask also. The more times he hears the chant for "SCORPION, SCORPION" the better!!

Your Manager will be in Dallas in a month or so and see the Scorpion exhibit at their Nationwide convention.

Be patient...

Hello from http://ScorpionCars.com .

Y'all be aware that the Scorpion version of the crawler is available! The model's suspension was designed by Mike Seay, Scorpion Daddy, in coop with Nylint/Funrise. They then got Jeep to also license their body and name, to add to the appeal.

We will have accessories/mods for the crawlers on the ScorpionCars site in a month or two, as they become available. Be aware, it takes a special prep and paint to adhere to that special impact-resistant body plastic, and we will have a full re-paint kit. You should find the things REALLY rugged. I saw you noticed the heft of the axles! We wanted to make sure that was not a weak point.

Notice that the drivetrain carries a US Patent Pending notice! Nylint did some amazing engineering on this to bring them to market at these prices.

The battery lasts about forever. Didn't see it mentioned that it has a two speed gears, one for crawling and one for hauling, switchable on the RC handset. The 1/6 will walk straight up the side of my desk in low.

The tires are a bit slick out of the box, but REALLY stick once they get used a bit. They are basically deflated as shipped to conform. The channel selection allows for FOUR different channels, just perfect for competitiion.

Would there be any interest in a REAR-STEER kit??

Ira, you really got Mike on me yesterday. He called and asked why I'd gone to the "Dark Side" by buying a Jeep.

Wrong Jason. ;)

I'm waiting for the Scorps to arrive. (Brand loyalty, ya know  )

Welcome to the site, man.

BTW...I TOLD YOU GUYS that these were going to be cool. :-P
