1/6 Scale Nylint Crawler

Great video, Jason!!! Its amazing how smoothly that thing crawls. my 1:18 is nice, but that thing just glides up and over everything with ease with that proportional throttle.

I'll be picking up a 1:6 crawler once I see one show up at my local Wally world. I want the Scorpion though.. as my little 1:18 needs a big brother.

slashsplat will you please list some of the mods and acessories that are to be made so i dont try to make my own

REEFER! What exactly broke?

We really want to know what broke on you. Can we get the pieces? Funrise/Nylint would like to see it! There IS on-going engineering that will affect future models. They have an AMAZING ability to slipstream improvements and sincerely want this to be bulletproof. The President of Funrise himself requested to be informed of all failures so they can do whatever makes sense to re-engineer weak points.

Mods...

Can't promise anything at the moment. We are looking at paint, tires, wheels, possibly rear steer for the 1/6, shocks-coil-overs, but nothing is absolute at this time. We are going to try to focus on those things that would be difficult for you to mod, but we are so busy with the initial roll-out, don't hold your breath.

We promise to keep you informed through this site as soon as any decisions are made.

Right now, we are more concerned to collect the info on breakage so we can assist Funrise/Nylint to produce a truly bulletproof model. Once that is done, enhancement to break the rest of the parts will follow!

So how are we going to get the parts to funrise and will we get another vehicle sent out to us or what are they going to about the 150 bucks we spent?

Repairs and parts

Smurf, the first thing that I would look to is a replacement from your Retailer, Wal-Mart. Their generous replacement policy has always worked well for me.

I will have to let Funrise address the repair and replacement issue directly and will invite their input. I do not represent them here, only the interests of the company who licensed the Scorpion name and likeness and assisted with the suspension design.

Being new here, I have kinda lost track. Do you have somethng broken?

one of my local walmarts has 7 1:6 jeeps on display and 2 1:18 (1 of each) on display. And somehow, im now sure how it happened, I did not buy any of them, I just walked back out. I want one, but I think my wife would have beat me down with whichever one I would have brought home. I really like the 1:6, but I want to build and indoor trail and climb park in my tall crawl space/short wall basement since we only use a small portion of it for storage. I think a 1:18 would be great for that. Mount up the electronics from my mini z in it and be all set.

OMG! From the video it looks like these crawl better than my modded TSC tlt. Thats almost embarrassing. The Nylint goes more farther horizontal than my tlt and it look like it can go farther on its side than my tlt before it rolls.

Maybe I should sell my TLT and just buy one of these.

Chris

I just bought one tonight and I would like to be prepared for the coming breakage i expect!

I'm sorry if you read that last post as me seeming rude

Thank you for speedy reply.

Ok is the "gear slip" part of the design or is mine being stupid ?
You know, you put it in high gear and if you try to climb something you can hear a soft "whirr" but it doesnt realy go forward. Or when you bind it up in low gear it does the same.

I dont want to take it apart untill i break it , and that should be soon :flipoff:

I gutted the body of anything it didnt need (it actualy "needs" the seating and interior or the cage doesnt work well....unless i whip out some plastic and triangulate it a little  ) and lost the windshield. Now i just have to figure on how to shave the bottom without getting into the battery or electronics

Nice to see you here Gil. ;-) Now you just need to search for your answers. :flipoff:

It is clod stall. Has to do with a motor for each axle. Power transfers to the one with least traction. Sometimes good sometimes bad. But you wanted front dig right. :) Now you need to get a crazy rc truck and we can get together. I got places near here.

That video is nice Jason. Those are quite capable. May be a cheap way for me to get a clod. hmmmm.

Mine does the gear slip in high range, and it'll barely do it in lowrange. I can't imagine that being good for it. It's just completely binding the drivetrain.

As far as trimming, I thought about taking the electronic boards out and laying them flat, as opposed to standing up, pull the cover off you'll see what I mean. Then if you use a different smaller battery you could pretty much cut the chassis away all the way to the level where the links mount up.

just got mine yesterday....

EDITED by BADGER: Resize your pics to 800x600 or lower. I removed your pic links.

I can't help but to wonder if the "stall" you guys are speaking of is actually a safety feature. Anyone remember the Mighty Mo? My skin got wound up in one of the axles when I was about 4. Wonder if they made a slipper type clutch in there so it wouldn't hurt anyone? Just a thought, maybe way off base.............

Well I heard a big crack and now when driving forward the steering goes from left to right constantly as I go forward. Almost like I was turning it left to right.
Then it did it again and now its fine. I think a gear may have slipped out of place
I'll take it apart this weekend and see if anything is actually broken.

Not sure I need to crack the case open, I will pull it apart tonight after work.
And see what's going on with it.

Man, watching that video almost makes me sick. Now any Joe Blow can walk into a Walmart and leave with a capable crawler, and for only $150! From the looks of it on the video looks like it's about as cabable as a well built TLT based crawler, though that's partially due to it's larger size. I'd be tempted to get one but I already have three 1/10 crowding what little shelf space I have, and that 1/6 Jeep is just huge! I like that it has decent speed in the high range, might be fun as a trail rig as well.

Man, I was afraid what would happen to this segment of the hobby if a big hobby R/C brand started manufacturing rock crawlers, but it appears I should have been looking out for the toy industry! Now people with no R/C experience whatsoever can pick up a capable crawler with their groceries. I wonder what this may do to the creativity of the R/C crawler hobby that I love so much?
