Sweet! They are great rigs, especially for the $

Re: Asia Tees 1/24 Hobby Plus CR-24 Defender & D1RC Jeep

My kids and I continue to have fun with our CR-24 Defender. It definitely out-crawls our Barrage.

I'm getting over 30 minutes of run time on a 500 mAh 1S LiPo. Voltage is right around 3.79 after that amount of time, which is just great. I haven't tried taking it down further than that. Hasn't really been a reason to.

Has anyone confirmed whether these things have Low Voltage Cutoff / Protection?

Re: Asia Tees 1/24 Hobby Plus CR-24 Defender & D1RC Jeep

Spoo76 Thanks for the amazingly detailed review.
Last night I orded a cr-24 after reading through this post. For me micro crawling started with an impulse purchase of a Temper 1/24 about 3 years ago. I quickly realized this wont due and started modding it by fixing the suspension and adding an rx and esc. It was so much better but still geared a little too high for me. Then I picked up a Rocksta. Added metal gears and have been loving it. Extremely capable. I Also picked up a few sets of rims and lots of tires and a spare rx/esc.
MY question for everyone is, can you reccomend a 1s lipo with the correct polarity and plug for the cr-24?
By the way, I just got an email from fed ex saying i'll have it tomorrow? Holy moly. If that actually happens I'll be amazed.

Big thanks to everyone for all the great info.

Cheers.

Re: Asia Tees 1/24 Hobby Plus CR-24 Defender & D1RC Jeep

I don't think I mentioned the reverse polarity here, but I've brought it up in the Facebook groups. The reverse polarity is more common among the 1s lipo crawlers like the RGT, supposedly popular with drones. It's definitely caught some people off guard, but none I've read have fried anything myself included.

I've already ordered and received my 2nd CR-24, I still say for the $ I prefer it to any of my Barrages/RGT or RC4WD Mini Gelande as far as out of the box performance. even my Carisma MSA-1E. Would take a back seat imo

For those looking to pick one up AliExpress has a sale on the D1RC "Ranger" version of the CR-24. Same truck, but it comes with a Jeep body and a 1s Lipo and charger for under $75! It's normally $93

So does the CR-24 require the normal polarity? I'd like to pick one up to drive along with my Trail Trekker. Any battery recommendations?

Re: Asia Tees 1/24 Hobby Plus CR-24 Defender & D1RC Jeep

Honestly any battery is fine. You can swap the pins on the plug end without soldering, I just happened to have an adapter that changed the type of plug to JST so I went with that. I'm pretty sure white wire was positive and red was negative, but I'll check tonight.

As far as size something between 300mah and 650 would be ideal. 800 will work, but is of course more weight and space. Look for something on HobbyKing or Value hobby. Id expect to pay less than $12 for a mAh. And maybe less than $8 or $10 for a 650

Also, it looks like a 5 wire servo. Is it any good? I know finding decent 5 wire replacement servos can be a pain.

Standard 3 wire servo.

I have what looks like the same exact setup with different branding. I got it with a bundle so I know nothing about it, but it's worked fine for my Barrages, CR-24, and Carisma MSA-1E.
I normally prefer 2S however

Thanks man. I have a few 2s for my Rocksta. I thought a 2s would increase the speed which I'm not interested in doing. I wanna crawl. Have you noticed much of a a speed increase with the 2s batteries?

Re: Asia Tees 1/24 Hobby Plus CR-24 Defender & D1RC Jeep

There's definitely an increase in bump speed, and it's a little more jumpy, but not bad for a stock rig and sometimes having twice the power is worth it. When I get home I'll double check the pinion and spur and see if I can gear it down some more. I'll also try swapping on a DDT predator motor.

I placed an order this afternoon. The wait begins...

Now I need to figure out why my Trekker lost all of its torque. I’m thinking the motor may be on its last legs.

Where has everyone been ordering from? Asia t's or AliExpress? I've seen them both go out of stock and come back.

Aliexpress. Ordered it like 2 days before the big sale then they were "sold out". Should get it this week! Really excited!

Re: Asia Tees 1/24 Hobby Plus CR-24 Defender & D1RC Jeep

I FPV'd my CR-24. Reamed a hole in the windshield and mounted a Cyclops 2 split VTX/Cam AIO inside. Plugged in to the pre-wired power lead, and was in business. That camera location gives you get a nice view over the hood, so plotting a long distance course is easy. But it makes it pretty much impossible to see what you're crawling over. The Barrage UV FPV has a better camera mounting position. It's right up front, with nothing to obstruct it. Overall, the FPV experience on the CR-24 is not great, but it was good for some kicks.

I also put some tiny lead split shots (weights used for nymphing/fly fishing) in the front tires, which helped noticeably.

Today I got in a package from RC4WD with some 1.0" Stamped Steel beadlocks and Rock Crusher tires. This wheel/tire combo is a little bigger than the stockers, and look the business. The Rock Crushers have foams, and so are obviously a little firmer than the stock tires. But they have grip for days, and the added weight is helpful, so I think they're going to be keepers. I will say this, mounting tires on the RC4WD beadlocks is 1000% harder than the stockers.

RC4WD Rock Crushers on the left. Stock wheels/tires on the right:

I noticed the D1RC Jeep was back in stock at AliExpress, and the CR-24 is back in stock at AsiaTees. Finding it hard to resist ordering a second one.

Mine shows up Friday. Had to laugh on Facebook micro crawler group. Most them never heard of this thing and call the Trail trekker the holy grail of the mict
ro world.

Re: Asia Tees 1/24 Hobby Plus CR-24 Defender & D1RC Jeep

I wouldn't say that. A few of us have been posting about it since the early pictures were released. It's still pretty new so most people don't even know about it, just like the Barrage.
