This is SUPER GREAT STUFF. Thanks to the chop shop!!!! And all!!!
So, for clarification....hard body gluing seems straight forward. Do all your gluing and surface prep, then paint. Correct?
Yes sir. Do all of your body work and then prime, sand and paint. Minor defects can be hidden or at least taken care of by a few coats of primer/paint with sanding in between.
BUT, for Lexan, everything needs to be painted up first from the inside, then glued together. Correct? Is there a trick to keeping seems less visible? OR do you have to bondo the exterior and paint similar to hard bodies.
Paint from the inside first, correct. I've seen some use Shoogoo to glue lexan body together, but the paint doesn't really want to show up through the lexan. IMO you should scuff the lexan slightly on the inside, lay down your paint using thin coats and then glue the pieces together using a thin layer of shoogoo. If you glob on the Shoogoo it will pull the paint from the lexan and create a wavy effect in the paint. Some people do paint lexan on the outside so that when the body gets scratched it shows the inside color through the scratch. You can't use filler on lexan as the lexan flexes and will pop the filler right off the body.
Lastly, is there an inspiration thread(s) which everyone likes to check out? Bodywork porn?
Nope, but maybe we should make one!
Thanks again all. "thumbsup"
