What powers your mega/monster truck?

I built up my axial/ wheely King mega truck on the cheap last year while going through chemo to keep my mind occupied. It only has a 27t motor in it now and I'm looking to upgrade. Was looking at a sidewinder combo but am open to suggestions. So what powers yours?

I just picked up a Hobbywing 120A SCT ESC (waterproof version) and a Gool RC 3660 3800kv motor for the truck I'm building. The total was a little over $70 shipped from ebay.

I also considered the Sidewinder SCT combo but ultimately decided against it. Having owned that setup in the past, I know the motor is up to any task but just don't trust the ESC to stay cool when pushing monster tires or slogging through the mud. The Hobbywing ESC can handle twice the power as the Sidewinder and the Gool RC motor is a $20 experiment for a 550 4 pole motor (looks like a Leopard motor).

I started with a Sidewinder 3 and 5700kv motor. That setup didn't work all that well for me. So, now I'm on a Mamba Monster X and a 2200kv 1515 series motor. Love it.

I personally don't think you need sensored electronics in a monster truck/mega truck/mud truck. I have this 80A HobbyWing ESC in my Axial SMT10 and an RC Gear Shop 3900kV motor.

Here's two other ESC options if you want more amperage:

I have that combo still in the wrapper contemplating putting it in my SMT, what truck are you running it in?

I just dropped the Mamba Monster 2 with 2200KV. Need to tune it still.

Now just trying to decide what battery I want to power the unit.

Well I ended up getting a good deal on a reedy ESC and one of there 3300 kV 4 poles. Seems to have decent power and is still controllable on 2s

I have the stock setup out of an HPI RS4 Flux in my SMT10. It consists of the waterproof HPI EMH-3S esc and an HPI 4000kv motor. On 2s it's at just the speed to not want to flip on it's side.

CPE Barbarian here running a Hobbywing WPSC8 with a castle 3800kv on 3S and geared quite low. Probably could gear it up and run on 2S as well and I think it would be comfortable on 3S with the 2400kv.
