GT3B Hack Question and Answer Thread

Last edited:
Can the gt3c flash kit be used on the gt3b radio? I've just ordered a gt3c radio and hack kit but also have a gt3b that I will flash as well if it's possible.

Is there anything that can be done to improve the trigger on the 3b? I slipped over holding mine and bashed the bottom of the controller and now it doesn't auto centre perfectly and sometimes I find my car creeping forwards. Moving the trigger back a tiny bit stops it. Also I would like to do the bearing mod to the wheel.

Depends what is preventing it from centering correctly....I would suggest closely inspecting all the mechanical parts for abnormalities

So there is no bearing mod or anything that I can do while I'm in there checking it? Also are the parts available for these?

You can only add a bearing to the steering wheel.

Some parts can be found....I have a good collection of parts as well.

I just got my gt3b in and when I try to update the firmware it give me an error. I can connect it to the board and start the update and everything, and after about 5sec it says the program has stopped responding and automatically closes. any ideas?

I hacked my gt3c with your kit but have a question. I have several 3 ch receivers but need another input for lights. Is it possible to setup the 4th input on the receiver as a simple on off input for lights (think it's labeled battery) I am using the 3rd ch for front and rear light bars and rock lights but would like to add a winch. The only other option I see is to just simply buy the 6ch receivers even though I'm only gonna need 4 max on any of my vehicles.

You'll need the 6ch rx. You'll keep finding ways to add more stuff. Last month one my customers from 3 years ago messaged me asking if there was a way to get more that 8 channels.

Another option will be adding your lights to a manual switch on your crawler. Heyok also sells remote switches that uses a keyfob.

Or, I'll have these for sale in February or March

Thanks. I guess I could always run the lights straight off the battery with that cheapie RC4wd inline switch and then forgo the rx all together.

I bought a "stock" GT3B from a friend and am wanting to upgrade it so I can add lights, winch, dig, etc. to my SCX project. Would there be a way that I could send you my radio and have the mods done and then have you send it back? I know you sell the firm ware and such, but I don't trust myself to be able to do it right w/o messing things up.

I'm sorry. I don't modify customer supplied radios. I've had issues where people send me a broken radio then blame it on me.

Anyone know what could cause my crawler to loose reverse throttle channel 2? i took the rig apart while back, not sure if i messed somthing up on the radio or not. i have steering, forward but no reverse. its a hacked GT3B Castle Sidewinder 3.
Thanks.

Not sure if this is good but i played with the Channel 2 D/R and Trim settings.
Currently i have both fwd and reverse with the following settings. motor is not in the truck yet but seems like l have a little more forward than reverse. i can at least drive it today.
D/R 75%
Trim F99
Does that setting sound right for a crawler?

Have you tried calibrating your esc?
