Trent Fab Ultra 4 / KOH buggy

I'm gonna make it a point to have at least one complete rig ready for the next one! Lol

I've been doing a lot of researching before starting my truck, and I'm glad I found this thread. I plan to build at 1:7 scale, and I've been on the fence as far as 3/16" or 1/4" tubing. Your chassis made up my mind and 1/4" it is!

Looks good Nick! Thanks for posting. I need to watch it a few more times. I never noticed how much you took the wraith axle track width and made the chassis to fit to look much closer to scale with the 1:1. "thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup" Greg

I have to say this is my favorite build, right next to the dmg's cannibal

Cool vid! Looks like it could use some softer suspension, but climbs great!

Thanks , just before making the video I put Super Shafty Blue Velvet coated shocks on it. The suspension was actually way softer than the previous setup. The problem was that i ordered the wrong springs for it and they are to short and would bottom out causing it to bounce. So after i get the right springs put on, it should handle better but so far i'm liking them a lot.

Thanks Greg ! Yeah I'm trying to get my builds as close to scale as I can , so I just build around the equipment i'm running with to get as accurate to the 1:1 size as possible. Once I get the U4 Voodoo tires from Ottsix it should look more scale with the tires being 1/4 inch shorter in diameter. Plus it will be less rotational mass with less stress on the drive line and a lower center of gravity.

A few screen shots from my video . Not sure if you guys can tell but the nose of the chassis is bent downwards now. Had a few hard nose dives into concrete floor from separate occasions, falling off a high obstacle course at the Piston Power Show and when I was doing testing setting up the adjustments on the ESC and doing some 4 foot jumps with bad landings. So I'll be straightening the front of the chassis soon and maybe doing some reinforcement too.

So I drove 5 and a half hours from northern Ohio to Attica Indiana this past weekend to go to the Badlands to watch the Ultra 4 series race. Probably one of the best times I've ever had. They also had local amateur rally racing , monster truck freestyle and racing and the W.E. Rock rock crawling series there to watch too. Here are some of the U4 rigs from the event.

The reason why it was one of the best times I've had. I got to go on a full out ride on the course with Derek West. I've rode in a lot of awesome rigs in my life and played on many bad a$$ atv's but nothing can compare to the capability of a U4 rig. The suspension was so awesome it was like a big fluffy pillow doing jumps, cornering and climbing rock. Completely Awesome !

Wayland Campbell admiring my rig, said it's been years since he's had one. I can understand why when he's got a full sized Monster Energy Ultra 4 to play with.

Nick! That's badass on a scale all its own!"thumbsup"
If you go to another U4 race, let me know! Id like to see one in person!8)

Well there is another race coming up in Kentucky but as much as I would like to I won't be able to go. But I definitely plan on going next year to the Badlands. One reason being is the reason I was able to ride in Derek West's U4 was because of the contract set up for the venue, not quite sure that it's a normal thing for them to give free rides at other events. It was sad too because they were giving rides in the monster trucks also but charged $5 and the didn't do anything but turn on the rear steer and drive in slow circles with no jumps or anything and about every kid and there parents got in line for it. For the Ultra 4 ride you just needed the VIP pass and no extra charge and I got to go for a ride of a lifetime with about a quarter the amount of people in line. And I was probably the 6th person in line from the start. I'd go next year just to go for a ride again.
