In an attempt to keep Solid Axle and IFS rigs racing together in the 2.2 Trophy class, while remaining to leave a wide variety of tire options available to the IFS rigs, U4RC has made the decision to expand the 2.2 Trophy class width rule to 12.75"(outside-of-tire to outside-of-tire) effective immediately (07/21/16).

The 12.5" rule stands for the upcoming Nationals event in CV, because this Nats is adjoined to the previous rule set. If we encounter a driver at Nats that wants to race a rig that is 12.75" wide, we will conduct a vote at the "driver's meeting" from all drivers in said class. (majority wins vote).

This is a national level U4RC rule, check with your local track for facility specific rules.

Quick question on the driver requirement for Trophy 2.2. Does it have to be two drivers or can it be one?

I only ask because most all of the pictures I'm seeing have two, and I don't know if it's just personal preference or not.

One driver is fine. I think most have two since a lot of people are using the same interior.

*At this point there is no motor type or limit rule in any class. Too big of a motor can actually make getting around the track more difficult.

*Shafty type transmissions is the rule in all classes. Single or multi-speed are allowed.

*There are no battery size/cell limitations in any class. the only rule is that it must be hidden in a scale fashion and chassis mounted.



These rules will stay thru the 2013-2014 Winter Series. Hope this info helps...

I vote against motor limitations. U4 isn't like short course which has well groomed courses...some tracks will be hard packed dirt while others will be deep, loose sand which will require a powerful motor to navigate.

When we started there was only one 2.2 class. The cars running in it at the time ranged from 4.5 lbs to 12.5 lbs. Not really fair.

We took the lightest full fab 2.2 (8.5 lbs), gave an additional 1/2 lb for weight reduction, and came up with 8. So far it has been a well received rule locally.

The 2.2 trophy cars work well, just don't take one to the leg while marshaling. Ouch...

I really feel that tire narrowing should be allowed. I realize that in Ultra4 the

only tire mods that can be made are siping and grooving BUT 1:1 tires are

generally available in differing widths...not true of RC tires. For us, the ideal

range is between 1.5" and 2" wide and the size depends on the weight of the rig

as well as track conditions. I think that locking drivers into factory widths will

only hurt the segment.

I agree with so much customizing to peraonal preference in the ultra 4class the limitations should be as minimal as possible ----over 8lbs and balls out.
