Losi 1/10th Roller

Just let you guys ponder this one... I Have a 13.5 brushless with a 18 tooth with a 7.4 lipo, and it ran fine yesterday (pin falling out exception). I had a xbr novak brushless that had bad brakes for racing so I threw that in it for now. Just have to get used to tapping the brakes first to get reverse, have it setup for 50% reverse not 100%. Seemed to work great my only comparison is a MOA super though.
Cheers,
DC

Well ten hours and three burnt motors latter , I`m done with it till latter , didn`t even gety near a rock yet . 3s Li-Po , FXR and a 45t , 35t , and a 27t with pinions from 12t to 19t nothing seems to work . I`ll get it figured out sooner or latter just felt the need to vent .

Not what I like to hear at all. I hope it is some type of fluke (nothing against you, just hoping).

Same thing is happening to me. Last night I tried every thing I had in my house. I tried 55t, 35t, silver can, fxr, rooster, all type of pinions. Still wouldn't go. It will not even try to go up my son's little toy couch. The wheel don't even have weights in the tires yet. I guess I need to get a brushless setup. I guess the rig is going to be put away to I get more money. So disappointed.

You might want to run the rig around on the driveway before you try to crawl any rocks. Went out after i put the electronics in & was having the same problem with the stalling. After running a pack on the driveway to loosen the gears up a bit, it's great. Try it as it may help a little.

Have you guys adjusted your slipper clutch yet??

Just to let you guys know......
Jake Wright has been using my gearjelly in his rig for a while now and he swears by the stuff.

This might help you guys out with the motor smoking prob.

Will be pulling my trans and axles apart today to install in my rig.
I got mine together last night and know what you are tallking about. My motor and Mamba got pretty hot, but didnt smoke anything. I know my GearJelly is gonna help tremendously here

ok have some questions before i finish installing my gear..... has anyone had good luck running a brushed motor in this yet? Im planning on a 35 turn that i built the other nite and really dont feel like toasting a smoking motor that i can toss in the scx instead. has anyone checked their axles to verify there is enough lube on the gears? Has anyone hit their motor with a temp gun to see what kind of actual temps their motors are hitting?

So, what was the concensus on the steering servo and dig servo ?
Min. torque on both would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Raz

Steering = as much as you can get on your budget. Im using a JR 8711
Dig= just get the lil Losi servo they recomend, it doesnt need anything special and doesnt bind so cheap and mini works fine

I was running a 45t last nite for a trial run with a mamba and the losi 3s.
It hit 145 easy and mamba was dang near there as well.

Havent pulled axles or trans yet, but its on the list of to do's today. Will post up what I find.

i had motor temps up to 190 in under a min

Ummmm welll, ummmmmmmm you got me.........
It is a vendor plug.
But Jake bought some of this stuff off me a while back before I knew who he was. Then I met him at RCX and he raved about how well the grease worked in his Losi rig. So take it as you want, but this stuff works great in any gear train.

I know right now I can't afford $135 for a JR , even though I would like to . I just wondered what would be the next best thing and how man Oz. of torque would be the min. you wouldn't want to go below.

I wouldnt go below 300 oz
Hi tech makes some servos that might fit your budget and torque requirements. Cant remem the numbers off hand and they have changed them recently.

Hitec 5955, 5995, 5998, and the newer 7995 servos are 300+ oz-in of torque and would be great.

Also, if money is tight look into Cirrus servos, some decent ones out there for very cheap!

Ran around a little bit with a 35T Warrior, 3 cell with Mamba. Nothing got too hot, but I kept everything to short bursts of speed. May throw in an old 27T stock motor to break in the drivetrain.

Put on my VP DH rims. On the front, you have to run at least the middle width spacers. The Berg spacers make the inner ring run on the steering rod ends. On the back, I left the Berg width spacers in.

On the back, the Berg spacers bring the VP wheels to about 1/8" narrower than the stock Losi rims.

On the front, the .335 spacers make the front about even, maybe 1/16" wider than stock Losi rims.

I will be using widest offset hubs in front and middle in rear, so the rig should be about 1/8" wider than stock.

The stock Losi rims/tire/foam weighs in at 5.25 oz each. A VP DH with no weights, stock Losi tire/foam comes in at 8.50 oz. I am running 4 weights in each front rim, nothing in the backs. That brings front tire/rim combo to 12.5 oz each and the rears to 8.5 oz each. Seems like a decent place to start.
