Winch Question

Hello to all viewing, sorry if this is already in the forum i couldnt find it, but I bought a RC4WD Bulldog 9300XT Winch which was 35 US, and i was wondering how do i waterproof the winch, also do i need a y adapter to run it on the same power as the reciever battery some say i do some dont any help will be appreciated, Thanks
