What the newest cheap servo hotness?

yeah, this "deal" seems to be bunk. The good news is that I found the Pro model on Aliexpress for about $14, which still seems like a great deal.

Hugo's link for the 'pro' version is $46 and change for four, free ship. Reasonable deal. I have not heard or seen comments on the 'pro' verses their standard DS series servos.

I bought my Pro DS3218 a few months ago, but haven't got around to installing it in the Defenestrator TRX-4 yet.

The price point was to where I felt that I could be a guinea pig.

Since my purchase I did read a review about one not returning to center very well, but we shall see.

I was one of the early (if not the first) adopters of the standard DS3218 here and never regretted that purchase!

The irony. Traded off my last spare servo this morning and my son killed off his mg958 an hour or so later. It just went all jittery after a year of very frequent use with 5.4" Boggers and a 5 year old driver. No complaints there, and I would definitely recommend them. I asked my son if he was fine with buying more mg958's, but he said "maybe just a little more power..." I considered trying out the JX CLS6336HV, but it's still a bit of an unknown as I've only read of 2 people running them. Always on the hunt for a better value, I just ordered up a 4 pack of the ds3218 Pro's for $46. I know the specs say otherwise, but the 3218 I already have is noticeably slower and has a tad less torque than the mg958's, so I've got my fingers crossed that the Pro version will be a little stronger, and a little faster, as advertised.

I ordered a ds3218 and some other goodies before the sale ended yesterday. Now time to wait the 25-35 days to get everything from China. Ready to have some new stuff to throw on my rigs

Would be nice if they reported power consumption. I imagine for a 468oz/in rated servo an external bec will be mandatory. Might work good on a mambax with its 10ah built in bec.

That is damn cheap for a servo with that much power - so now you have a pretty good idea of what the servo companies are paying for them in bulk from china, selling them for four to five times that retail. I'm in the wrong business. :flipoff:

Aluminum gears...... most don’t last

That's what I have found out. The hard way. A powerful servo with aluminum gears is asking to be disappointed. Waiting on my warranty replacement Turnigy 959v2 from China. Unfortunately it's on backorder. Think it'll be a servo winch. About to buy a Promodeler 470. Not gonna deal with stripping out another gear in the 959
