Hey all!
I'm looking at getting an inexpensive soldering station. I only use it for rc stuff, maybe once a week. I have a weller 45 watt pencil iron now, but think the station would be nice to have. There are a few used Hakko 936s on Ebay for 65 shipped, with one tip. Has anyone ever head of the brand Atten? What are some other good brands besides Hakko? I know of Weller, but they seem to be higher than Hakko in cost.
Thanks for the help!

I misspelled one word. Really not that hard to understand. I re-read my post, and seems legible. I think I was able to dumb it down enough... j/k
I get that Hakkos are the best- just wondering if there are less expensive options people have used that work well... easy enough.

Team Checkpoint makes a great station. Hobbyclown, I mean Hobbytown sells them for 79.99. I have one, and dont like to think back in time about soldering without it. The same one sells under another name I cant think of at the moment too.

Team Checkpoint is gone...New name is Track Power, same stuff new name. Bad idea in my opinion as TC had an established name. click me. This question has been asked on here many times an pretty much ends up with most people telling you to buy a Hakko. The Track Power and Team checkpoints are relabeled Hakkos .

You solder more than I do and I am glad I bought it, so much more enjoyable to put some connectors on now that I have it. Pick yourself up some tips and you will be set up to solder anything you will ever need from battery connectors to circuit boards.

Consider it an investment, it should last just about forever.

The WLC-100 is great, and it might be less costly than a Hakko. Or, it might be more. Mine has lasted my 15 years, and I use it a SHIT TON. From point to point wiring amplifiers to everything RC and everything else under the sun.

Yup just some fancy vinyl graphics.
