You should only need to change your pinion gear in most cases...what ever it comes with stock you generally can go down tooth count by maybe 4 teeth.
Always and always keep an eye on your motor temperature.
Heat is a motor killer if you run it too hot.
Ive read someplce if you can hold your finger on the motor for at least 5 seconds before you HAVE to take you finger off because it burns then its ok...if you cant its too hot...I personally use a temp gun to watch my temps...you can go as high as 150 degress but I don't like it that hot myself..i try to stay in the 120-130 range.
