What did you do to you SCX-10 today?

Thank you. I was told to switch it for better steering. But I didn't see the need. Thanks again.
Cms actually makes your steering a little to a lot worse, depending on your setup. People do it anyway for scale looks since 1:1 don't have servos. [emoji6]

Would I get better steering if I switched mine as well?

I'm also putting on new to me rims with my old mtz's.

I have several SCX-10s with the following different steering configurations:

- XR10 Steering.
- VP steering with zero ackerman knuckles.
- VP CMS (for Currie axles) steering with VP zero Ackerman knuckles.

In my opinion, the XR10 steering has the tightest turning radius hands down. Followed by the VP CMS steering with zero Ackerman knuckles. Then the VP zero degree Ackerman steering.

Got my new front hooks and got my steel tow chain that's like 2 feet long so I shortened it up a little bit. Might have to play around and see how I can double it in there so I have a longer chain if needed ;) I got my gmade wheels today as well. Found a wheel that would look like a factory k5 wheel. I opted for the non coated steel wheel so they'll rust in as I play with it :) I'll have to wait until sunday to get them mounted because i'll be using the factory tires for now so sunday while the wife is at work I can use the oven... quick pics.

front of the wheel to get an idea of the look.

Spent good time last night since I couldn't sleep and got the tires un glued and mounted on the New wheels. Picked up about 100 grams per wheel definitely feel the difference!

I made my front end a little sturdier..added some aluminum.

What did you use for the 100 grams? I love those rims.

What did I do to my SCX10 today? I installed Axial AX30401 and AX30402 HD Bevel gears. The front one (AX30401) makes the front wheels spin faster to prevent the rear wheels from pushing harder than the front end of the truck, reducing the chance the truck will flip over backwards on steep hills. The rear set (AX30402) reduce torque twist, keeping on of the front wheels from raising up and dancing off the ground. Both sets together increase front end traction and drive. I still have not added wheel weight, as the diff gear upgrades have greatly reduced the need for wheel weights.

The wheels them selves added about 100 grams. I'm thinking about wrapping them with 3 or 6 more oz each but not sure if its worth it. when the snow is all gone I might be able to tell. I thought they were perfect for this truck ;)
Stock wheel and tire

GMADE steel wheel and tire.

That is in grams but I figured it out just the wheel swap alone netted a 1 pound gain in weight!!

Worked on the wife's jeep. Moved battery forward on chassis behind shock hoops, electronics to the rear, and flipped the transmission around(no not mirror, spun it so the the gear cover is in front.) Did all that to get it ready for a wraith interior. Now to start gathering parts to get the interior done. Have to do this twice, maybe three times cuz once the wife's is done I'm doing mine, then inevitably my mom will want hers done as well....ha

Installed a rc4wd winch and wireless controller, also mounted up some 1.9 pitbull rock beasts on SSD wheels with single stage closed cell crawler innovation foams

Was curious, did you fill the axle tubes up with grease like some say to do on here? I got to say I was looking at Wheel Weights also but had not pulled the trigger yet on that. Maybe this gearing is the answer because I have the same problems climbing steep hills and flipping.

Don't need to do both front (OD) and rear (UD)....just OD on the front helps...start there and see how it drives for YOU. Then if your adventurous do the rear as well. I did just the front an it works GREAT for climbing and increase turn radius a bit. I've got other upgrades I'll do first but eventually I may under drive the rear. When I did the front I put axial cvd's in at the same time. As far as grease, as long as the housing is sealed I don't really see the need to fill it up with grease. I did however use a lot of marine grease in the pumpkin.
