'Brushed motors should be run with low C rated lipos.'
I said why?
Because it pushes too much current into the motor and once saturated, the motor doesn't produce more power and just gets hotter for no reason...
He was not talking 3S vs 2S (as he had strong opinions about 3S too) but that even high C rated 2S packs kill brushed motors quickly.
So apparently they only recommend 20C lipos for brushed motors and crawlers.
I queries about using my right finger to control the flow of electricity as it isn't like PWM brushless when you get max current X times a second as the FETs switch as I believed brushed to be governed by voltage you personally request via the TX.
I also believed the battery has little to do with it as I was under the impression that the battery basically supplied what the ESC asked for and as such couldn't 'push' current rather simply supply it.
He also said no brushed motor should be run on 3S and the two lipo series wired Traxxas EMaxx on the nearby shelf was only in fact 2S so the Traxxas 550 21T I was buying was not safe on 3S.
I said many guys run the 550 21T on 3S (and obviously 4S on the EMaxx) but no, it is just a 2S motor...I.e. Don't bring back a burnt out 550 if you run anything other than 2S.
Hmmm...
