does anyone know of any cvds that will fit now that the other cvds are out of stock and i would like to stay with the stock length setup cause im not crawling or trailing with it.

ones with very little mods needed drop in prefered lol these will be going into my new foxx i recieved..

And also maybe somebody knows what MIP, RC4WD (or anything else) center drive shafts will fit on a MF
 
Thanks to cmbscx10 I've got my version of cvd on my old Mad Force.



I used a pair of Losi XXL CVD's cut to the length and connected with a bushing. However I need to fabricate a thicker bushing, as the one you see was too thin and the set screws didn't hold up, it need to be at least 3mm. And you need to grind the axle where the set screw sit on the axle, kind of how a driveshaft is connected to the pinion. Or you can weld it together, if you know how to. I tried and I didn't liked my result :)

Ah ha. Now I see what you have going on. An idea I had while looking into this without welding was Similar to what you have done. I was going to use a sleeve, drill holes on the ends like where you have the set screws and use hex pins to secure it. Soak it In Some green loctite and cross fingers they held up. Never got around to doing it though. I found some roll pins of the correct size for the Drive shaft and figured that would be best for maximum coverage using the brazing method.

Bottom line is I wish custom shafts in Uni or CVD flavor could be ordered and I think the vendors like a super Shafty and machinists are listening.

I was told hpi pulse buggy unis were a direct fit for the short side which isn't true bought 4 and they are a little too long.

Hopefully not by me. The pulse DS are 88mm which are 2mm too long for the short side. Too bad cause at least they are 4.5mm shafts. I spent a shirt ton of $$ finding out what doesn't fit and what does.

I don't like the idea of drilling those shafts, drilling a 2.5 or 3 mm hole in a 5mm shaft... it wouldn't remain much of a shaft :)

No wasn't you. Guy still claims they fit with no mods and he said he just installed a set for a buddy. :roll:

Well you and i know they don't so it is what it is. 84mm is min but 86mm is perfect. GL on finding a UNI one in 86mm length. If you do please let us know.

A little more research can be done for a cheaper price maybe but since you have the Stubs form the Pulse DS i woudl get these Kyosho 1/8 Inferno MP9e TKI Center Universal Shafts – Dollar HobbyzKnock the pin out. ditch the pinion shaft end and put your Pulse stubs on. The long DS is basically trash unless you want to cut it down.
 
RC4WD just released some knuckles. Is there any benefit to these? Are the stock ones weak?

Thanks for the heads up.

I have read quit a bit on the stock knuckles and short of clearancing them for steering angle if you have Uni's they don't seem to break or have a lot of negative comments on them.

$33 plus shipping buys a lot of stock knuckles but that's my .02 end of the year bonus.
 
My final version of front cvd. Two bushings with 4 set screws each. Already made two tanks of fuel and they hold just fine

Didn't had the chance to try them furthermore. Hopefuly this week/end. But, compared with the first version, they are bulletproof. Consider this tipe of connection is commonly use to rotate a differential, hence two wheels, so why wouldn't it resist to only one wheel?

Shaft mod still holding strong? Hope so.

One and a half year later... and they are holding strong! "thumbsup" Thanks cmbscx10 for the tip, using Losi LST driveshaft.
And if we are talking about this, there are my latest upgrades.

For the rear driveshaft it was pretty straight forward, only had to reduce (on a lathe) the output of the pinion from 8 to 5 mm

For the front driveshaft I had to fabricate that small piece of metal, nothing too complicated. At this moment, the only difference compared to the last picture is that I'm not using that Junfac driveshaft, but I have on both ends the RC4WD ones. However, I'm not very happy with them, after not even 2 minutes into the first run, the rear driveshaft (the only one installed at that moment) fell apart in the snow. Luckily, I was able to recover all the bits and pieces from the snow and rebuilt it. Furthermore, if you look closely at the rear driveshaft, I manage to fabricate a protection for that little pin that fell apart. It's made from 12mm copper sleeve, painted in black so it's hard to see (it's what you use to connect two copper pipes). The thicker pin stay in place just fine, no chance to loose it so there is no need for a protection.
