If anyone was looking into buying either. After having been in both of these radios. I do like the build on the Turnigy GTX3 a bit better. IMHO the radio feels a bit more solid and looks better. The GTX3 has the bearing mod done to it already from the factory.

Both I still think are in need of the upgraded firmware to get all of the features working properly.

With adding a lipo, the new voltage regulator and an led power indicator I love it and would take another one over some pricier radios with similar features.

They both have the same hardware inside..... the gt.3x has lower profile d/r and ch.3 trim buttons. I also have used both and see a need to either swap buttons from gt 3b into the turnigy or get Austin switches that are a higher profile. Also the turnigy radio when hacked will require the header pin to be quite close to one of the screw bosses in the case. This just needs a little more moding

Turnigy GTX3 is the best

Until you hack and complain about using the dr and ch.3 trim switches..... built quite a bit of those for local club members here...... moded quite a few 3b radios so I pulled a broken 3x a local had and discovered the over molded grip and shorter switches including a spacer missing between board and housing. You can simply swap switches like I said or mod in one's from overkill rc.

Also like stated turnigy dropped the ball by moving the upper cover screw bosses ... bad placing.

Hobby king is local here so many locals use that radio, seen and built many of them. Most guys here are cheap so I've never looked to confirm it has bearings or not. Pics if it does please...... size.... demensions ..... etc....

I can verify that it does have a bearing. I ordered a bearing and reamer to do the mod and took it apart... and lo and behold it already had one.

As for the mod to do the firmware. I soldered a 3s lipo extension lead on the board and ran it down the handle now it sits right next to the battery plug for future updating if it ever needs.

Like I said if ya got it apart again, get the dimensions of bearing if ya could .

As for your extension I'm assuming you are referring to "3s" as to the balance plug using some sort of extension to transfer the 4 wires down the handle. I've seen ideas like that done but really seems kinda wonky to me. I donno

Bearing sits on that shaft right under the housing. Bearing measures 12mm x 8mm x 2.5mm

LED power indicator mod. Wired to upgraded voltage regulator

3s balance lead soldered to board. Wires were stripped pulled through and soldered on top.

Lead run through the handle.

3s Lipo fits almost perfect.

Do you need an LVC for the radio or does it have its own?

The firmware has a programmable LVC. It simply beeps to alert you, and flashes a Low Battery on screen. Won't turn itself off though. You can also program the idle alert time as well.
This is with the hacked firmware.

ok so what are the major differences between the 2 radios and would these be a better option if they were firmware hacked vs a new dx4c

So the bearing must ride behind there eh? Good to know, thanks for the info. But why the led mod if hacked? Why not just set the activity timer?

So are you just using the header pin to transfer from female to femalet plugs?

I personally just did not like leaving the back light on. I had some leds and some led holders laying around. They look factory so i figured why not while i had it apart. I also have a bad habit of forgetting to turn off the radio with the back light not showing lol.

The board didnt have pins it just 4 holes where the header pins would have been. So i led the 18g wire through and soldered it on the top.
Unless you meant to plug it into the programmer. I use another 3s balance extension lead. It plugs directly into the pins on the st8ms

Between the gt3b and gtx3 just about nothing except the bearing on the gtx3. Both are the exact same electronics with a slightly different shell. The gtx3 feels a bit better to me and has less logos on it.

The new firmware has an inactivity alarm...

I actually see it now in 0.61, had I noticed it before... I still would have done the LED.

Does anyone know if I can use the GTX3 with the FS receiver? I need another receiver for my GTX3 but can't find anything that will match up that is not backordered

Thanks
