I got my feet wet building my hilux truggy. Now i want to do it again but this time i've got my old tundra cab back in a trade. This time around i want to leave it full frame and make the cage work bolt on. Not 100% sure how this will turn out as its going to be as i go tweaks here and there. What i do know is i'll be using bed sides of this one. Should be interesting as i am still learning tube bending and building at this point. Just waiting on some more safety silv and my new tubing bender to arrive before i get started on any cage work. Hmmm... having issues with loading the pictures from my computer. Will have to get them up here shortly of what i'm starting with.

I’ll be using my kit build Scx10 II as the base to start. Going to be using rockbeast xl tires how ever I can get them to fit.

That’s where I’m at for now. Until I get some supplies have to figure out how I’m going to attach the bed to the cage work and some other stuff yet but so far I like how this is looking. Thanks for taking a look I’m always open to constructive criticism since I’m still learning. Feel free to point me in the right direction [emoji6]

Got the bed stripped down and mocked back up. Thinking the cage might go inside the bed and outside not sure yet.

Forward progress. The bed is now supported by the cage. Hopefully this weekend I'll have a decent chunk of time that I can get the cage work attached to the frame.

Cage is now attached without tape holding it any more.

Opened up the rear wheel wells a bit and chopped off the lower rear bed corners. Looks much smoother now.

Calling the rear cage complete. Need to work on mounting the lights in the bed then that can get painted. The cab needs to get stripped of the current paint yet and modified to fit the massive tires. Sliders will be made yet as well as a front bumper. It’s coming together nicely I’d say.

Wheels look real nice [emoji106]
What are you using to strip the paint?

Dot3 brake fluid. Seems I didn't paint it all that well the first time so a soak for a day per side has it just melting off.

Sweet build! Where did you get the wheels?

thing is looking quite nice, good work on the tube and the bed pinch, I like it a lot.

Thanks [emoji5] I've been trying to go at this one slower than my last one since I like to rush things. Its still not perfect but it's going to be abused anyway so I'm OK with that.

So my 600 slw hubs came yesterday and they weren't quite as wide as I'd hoped but they are as wide as I want to go. So I had to rework the tube in the back a little bit and tuck them in the bed sides. I think if I stick some beef patties in the wheels they will just clear the bed at full articulation. I also glued in some braces on the inside of the bed to keep it from separating (hopefully) and some taillight brackets I made to hold the lights in place. Last I started Han painting the taillight housings [emoji53] this is why I wish I had an air brush. Cab is almost finished getting stripped so I'll have more work to do soon [emoji846]

Nice! Always wanted to do something like that but don't have the tools or know how lol

Brake line is cheap. Bender's are cheap. I've just learned as I went along. Brazing I learned in high school so that's pretty easy for me. Its not perfect so there's no way I could ever build these for other people but it works for me [emoji6]

Taillights are painted and mount up real nice. Cab paint is stripped and trimmed for the tires. Thinking about doing tube over the front fenders to tie into the front bumper but not 100% yet on that.
