ive seen a ton of builds with the 1/6th '42 willys bodies. but id never seen this body, and when i came across it i had to have it. it appears to be modeled after the '50-'52 M-38/CJ-2a. the body was made by hasbro in the late 60s and early 70s for GI Joe. acording to my math the body is 1/6.24 scale.

the drivetrain, suspension, steering wont be particularly scale, but the outward appearance will be decent i hope.

my current plans:
Custom Chassis 12.75" WB
rc4wd 2.2 landy wheels (will be narrowed and painted)

Narrowed Hammers
Axial or TLT axles, depending on offset of wheels.
disrupter & killer T-case
4 point roll bar
not sure if ill repaint it OD green or leave it

the gear shifter actually moves, and appears to have be the switch for the origonal spotlight and motor sounds.

the windshield folds down and also removes completely

the hood also opens which should leave room for electronics and motor/tranny

i had never tried tire moding before, but decided to give it a go. i narrowed these hammers by .7" to replicate the military tires, came out pretty decent for my first try.

Very nice start. I almost got one of those bodies, but I didn't know what it was modeled after. BTW. Those tires look sick!!!!! Well done.

I have the same body in the mail as I type. But, I am going for the desert rock crawler look so really just the shell.

If your going for the scale military look, maybe we can make a deal on something. Mine has the original trailer. Looks like the hitch is broken but nothing that can't be fixed. Also has a tripod in the trailer (for a light I think or for the Anti Tank gun), Anti tank Gun, 2 rounds for the gun, the original american flag and the spare tire with cover.

That body is dripping with potential, can't wait to see what you do with it.

I know you said the suspension wouldn't be particularly scale, but will it be leaf sprung or?

Nice job on the tires now shave the sides:-o

chassis came in! all my CAD time paid off. fits perfect. wanted to make sure everything fit under the body with zero cuts into the interior. rear shocks will be bruiser style angled in and mounted in the center of the cross brace. the front sticks out on purpose for the bumper mount.

Good job on the chassis. I like it! You have been pumping out some rigs lately.

I'm just starting to learn CAD, and it's awesome. Definitely takes it to the next level.

Tires and chassis came out killer!

I would like to try narrowing some tires, we'll have to see if I get brave enough.

For mine I just ordered up some 2.2 pro line TSL's...wont be narrowing those though!
