For anyone running the stock traxxas speed control, or I guess this could be a question for any programmable ESC. Do you run brakes, then reverse on second press, or instant reverse with max brake when you let go of the trigger?

I used to run mostly trail mode, just because it was a pain in the @$$ to switch. Now with the Mamba X, high gear is forward, brake, reverse and low gear is crawling mode with forward, hill hold, instant reverse.

I rub the instant reverse plus the drag brake is better in that made too.

If you're trailing you probably want it set so the drag brake does not come on until you hit the throttle backwards. If you're crawling you probablywant the drag brake set.

This stuff is programmable for a reason. Every person is different and you program the settings the way you want them. There is no correct setting, only what works best for you.
