Traxxas 2.5 Conversion to Electric - ESC and Batteries

I'm in the middle of converting my 2.5 to electric and have completed the transmission conversion to single speed. I was going to use a 550 motor but then ordered a 775, instead, for the extra torque and speed potential.

So now I need an appropriate ESC for a brushed 775 motor to push about 100 amps, and was looking at this: Hobbypower 320A High Voltage V2 Brushed ESC but would feel more comfortable with some more opinions.

I'm thinking of using either 2 2S 7.4 volt Lipos, or maybe just one 4S 14.8 volt Lipo.

Any thoughts on the ESC and battery set up would be helpful.

Thanks!

you're better off using a Hobbywing Quicrun 08 HOBBYWING North America — QUICRUN Brushed System
wired for one motor (it's in the directions that come with the esc). It's waterproof, handles 4s and has a warranty.

It also handles 360 peak amps vs. the 320 amp listed in the hobbypower, and it also specifically lists being capable of running a 775 motor and has a 3amp bec output vs. the 2amp on the hobbypower

I run one on my emaxx with dual 27t motors and it doesn't even get warm.

EDIT: if you are specifically using Amazon for the free shipping, you can also find the hobbywing ESC listed as a quicrun 860 (it's the previous version, but still a very good ESC. I have that one also and haven't had a single issue with it. Hobbywing does ship the quicrun 08 for free though.

Hi makya:

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to order one of the Quicrun 08 ESCs. I'm only using one motor right now but if I get really inspired later on, I can add another.

I did note this set of motor limit specs:

For 2S LiPo or 6 cell NiMH:540, 550, 775 Size Motor: ≥12T or RPM<30000 @7.2V
For 3S LiPo or 9 cell NiMH:540, 550, 775 Size Motor: ≥18T or RPM<20000 @7.2V
For 4S LiPo or 18 cell NiMH:540, 550, 775 Size Motor: ≥24T or RPM<15000 @7.2V

That 12T-24T is the number of motor turns, right? The Traxxas 775 is 10 turns - so, is that in spec, or out of spec? Just wondering.

Thanks

Thanks!
