Tire choices

Well heres my thoughts on the vaterra tires, i drove in sand, snow, and pumled dirt, they hook up good if you have your rpms up but you really cant let off the throttle because you need them constantly working however in sand i would say is best for them thats where there best and with this rubber compund they really hold up, well atleast there not shredding from a blast down my driveway,

Are the older version of the sandpaws still available? My foff has the older style in front I believe and the newer style in the back (a friend gave me the front tires, that's what motivated me to build a foff in the first place :) ) The newer tires are a little shorter/narrower/stiifer and I'd like to try the older kind on all 4's. Seems like if I punch it up a steep soft climb it just digs down and the makes holes. All is not lost though, a bit of throttle finesse and it will climb where I can't climb on foot :) My lil foff is dialed pretty well, but I think it could do a bit better with rear tires that match the fronts :)

There is my own made "V Production Pnesh" -series tyres:

Good luck your foff build!

Hey thanks man.Need an answer for something what is the size of battery your using.with my build not sure were to put my battery..
What are the LxWxD and size.I want to use 3Cell....

I think when I do a build, after watching some 1:1 foff vids, I will run panther paddle short course in the front and proline sand paws in the rear. It looked like a large majority where running the solid paddle in the front and splits in the rear. Im not sure what the reasoning is behind this tho. At first I was going to run split front / solid rear, but the vids changed my mind, just not sure why. Mind you, Ill probably do both to find out what works best for me, and what the difference is.

Until I get paddles, I will probably run my hpi rock grabbers. They are a little big tho, might slow my wheel speed down. Maybe they will be perfect. till then..

I'm using Pro-line 2.8 sand paw already glued and I do have a new set of Pro-line sct 2.0 3.0 sling shot i bought last year and never used them yet. I find there to narrow will check tomorrow see how it looks may look like a sand dragster...:lmao:i also have a lot of old tires and like hadesbear said try and make some and post some pics so I'm going to try to make some what the hell don't hurt to try."thumbsup"

Here i had these on hand you can see the comparison with the paddles I'll be going with.....
Pro-line Sand Paws 2.70x5.22 12mm hex
Old well like 4 years Pro-Line Mashers 6.60x3.75 with 23mm hex with bead locks.I thought maybe i cut these mashers upi don't use them any more and a good candidate for custom paddles
Just thought i throw that in...."thumbsup"

Great candidate for custom paddles for sure amigo."thumbsup"

Those paddle tires i posted about are quite expensive, almost $40 a tire here, so a little over $160, so i'll get just 2 later to see what they would be like for the rear with the Panther's up front.

Wow 160.00 for a set of 4 little expensive for me.

Ha..wait until you start to build a REAL crawler...Foff's are cheap compared to them.;-)

But yeah $160 is too much, but they would have been expensive to import, my Panthers cost me a little over $100 to get them shipped here.

Their 3.2's...but yeah i chose express shipping which didn't help, didn't get express on the new 3.2 bead locks that have been shipped, so wont be hitting the beach until they arrive. Once they do i'm hitting some sand.
