The Official RECON G6 Q & A Thread

- Tires may be 1.55, 1.9, or 2.2, but must be a licensed manufactured tire or knock offs. Tires must resemble the real thing and can only be siped or grooved. No other alterations may be made.

But yes,cutNshuts/comp tires are still ran in G6's..with Time Penalties given.

Thanks for the confirmation. [emoji41]
I like to build what looks scale to me and the cut-n-shuts look right. Time penalties for being different are fine with me so long as we can run.
I just want to experience the adventure with my friends and family, don't care about winning or times or classes.

Contemplating on whether or not I "need" to outfit my Wraith with lights? I have a 6000 Lumens headlamp that is as bright as the sun and would expect that I will be within 5-10 ft from my rig during the nighttime events? Should I not worry about this for now? Help with this decision would be great!

Parker has had " rig lights only" sections where you have to turn off your headlamp in the past "thumbsup". i've seen drivers use small clip on lights attached to their rigs, fast and cheap.

Stupid question time... Is axial fest and the G6 one in the same? I ask because I've got a vaterra rig and if the G6 ever makes it to New England I'd like to go but can't buy an axial rig just for one event. I'm a total noob and tried reading through this whole post but didn't find a definitive answer. Thanks!
Ben

Well Ben, a G-6 and Axial Fest are the same, but different. Axial Fest is a event put on by Axial to thank their customers for using their products and supporting the hobby. So I think an Axial rig would be required there. As for a G-6 event I have never seen anyone turned away from one no matter what type, brand or color:) rig they run. "You meet the nicest people at a G-6""thumbsup"

Thank you. If one ever comes up my way I'd like to try it out. I like the idea of hiking along with the truck and how many gates there are.
Ben

My son and I would like to go to Axialfest next year with our RTR Wraith and SCX10. We are a bit confused as to how far we can go with modifications before our trucks are no longer "Axial". What can/cannot we do?

Thanks!

Do whatever you want...
As long as it has axial based axels..stock plastic or alum versions
Axial based trans..
Your good!"thumbsup"

I saw Heavily custom to almost bone stock at axialfest this year.

Interesting. I suspect they wouldn't turn anyone away since that's not what the event is about, but are you saying for example, Vanquish axles are in but the RC4WD AX2 2spd tranny is out? http://store.rc4wd.com/AX2-2-Speed-Transmission-for-Axial-Wraith-SCX10Honcho_p_2463.html
Thanks

I have a question, I am new and will be attending my first G6 event in Feb and I am curious as to whether or not there are articles or threads with tips for setting up a G6 rig?

No articles to speak of...

My personal advice is to keep it low and balanced..maybe just a slight forward bias on weight.

Ive seen almost bone stock rtr's make it thru a g6 with smart driving."thumbsup"

Well I'm piecing my rig together from parts I have and buying some stuff I don't, it's not a fancy expensive rig but it's something I built. I was just looking for advice on where to strengthen the trucks and where to not focus so much attention on so to speak.

And do short wheelbase vehicles work at all?
