Are there any RCC members that own the Central Machinery 44142 3 in 1 Lathe/mill/drill? This machine is also re-branded by Enco and it's their model# 328-1310. There is also another outfit that sells the same machine called Bolton Tools. I own the Harbor freight version and I love it!

I'm adding some more tooling to my arsenal and it would be nice to get input. I just ordered a plain back independant 6" 4 jaw chuck and a 5c collet chuck. I'm going to need to make a faceplate to adapt the new chucks. I think I'm going to make the faceplate from some 3/8" plate steel.

I would like to find a steady rest and follower as well, but I'm having a hard time finding one that will fit.

i've used one several times. dont expect to much out of it, it ok for smaller stuff like things we make for our hobby. if you looking to do precision work be prepared to be dissapointed. all in all its not a bad little set up but will never compete with a Bridgeport or a decent lathe. good luck on your new toy."thumbsup"

Thanks! I've actually had the machine for 4 years. The tolerances are pretty good and I've equipped the whole machine with DRO's. And you're right the machine really struggles on larger steel parts for my 1:1 crawler
I'm just at the point where I need more tooling:ror:

could you post a link the this machine? I can't find it on the harbor freight web site by the number that you listed above.

Here's a link to the online manual http://images.harborfreight.com/manuals/44000-44999/44142.PDF
This machine has been discontinued by Harbor Freight but still available from Enco and Bolton.

You will be ok with 4 jaw chuck. I bought a cheap 3" 3 jaw for my small rotorty table & it has .004 runout.
