WHO WILL BE CROWNED "The Best Of The West"?

Our goal is to make this a non-profit competition. This will be our way of giving back to the community and helping the comp scene as much as we can. All of our time and efforts will be considered a donation to all of you.

The event is to be held October 27th and 28th in Wendover, Nevada.

Wendover is a fantastic town located approximately 120miles west of Salt Lake City (a 1hr 45min easy drive). Wendover was really receptive to us being there as most of their income comes from tourism. It feels great to be in a place where youre welcome and wanted!

While there is not a ton of ammenities such as a Wal Mart, Target etc,. there is a lot of recreation (hiking etc,.), the town is casino based (gambling, spas, pools, entertainment, and possibly a great place to bring your significant other!) and there is a lifetime worth of crawling to be done without ever driving the same line! Along with the town being a great town for RC crawling, it fits right in with the theme of this competition as hotels are very reasonably priced (I regularly stay for $50 a night) and you can grab a ham and eggs breakfast at the Red Garter Casino for $2.99! So, if the economy has you down, this is the comp to be at this season as it should be one of the most reasonably priced ever!

Tickets will go on sale, on my website, Tuesday September 4, 2012. As many know from participating in the 801 “Utah State Champs” in past years, spots can go VERY quickly so if you really want to be part of this comp, I suggest signing up ASAP. As of now, we will be taking up to 50 people. If we can get a couple more judges, we can take many more.

Tickets will be in the range of $25 per person. $25 will cover 1 class or all 3 classes. The price of the ticket will also cover T shirts and hopefully some extra goodness depending on the amount of people that sign up.

There will be trophies (thanks to the BYBRCC) for 1st-3rd 2.2, 1.9 and Super. There will also be a trophy for the overall winner.

2.2 to be held Saturday.

1.9 and Super to be Sunday.

This is considered a level 1 national qualifier at this point. This may change.

Please keep an eye on this first post as this is where I will update all the information.

Re: The Best of the West: Oct. 26-27th - Wendover, NV

Thanks for posting some pics Fish! That will not be the exact spot but that does give a good general idea.

There is a lot of rock out there where we can go and it can change A LOT by just moving a couple hundred yards. The rock stays the same as far as traction goes for the most part but as you can see in the above pictures, they are nice, smooth rolling rock. The spot I have planned has some of that but also big ledges and some dirt.

Overall, the area has VERY high and consistent traction. You can pull off some crazy lines here. I will try to setup some courses to involve some dirt so it should mix it up pretty well.

Here are a couple more pictures I have of the general area (thanks to N8 of 801rcc).

Re: The Best of the West: Oct. 26-27th - Wendover, NV

One of the different ideas that I have for this comp is to run more courses than typical. I would like to run 7 courses

Running 7 courses will change many things:

If you mess one course up, you can easily still be in the game. I believe 7 courses will take a much better average and show who really drove the best that day.

This will test your car to its limits. 7 courses is much more time on the car where breakage is possible. Better have your car built well!

Obviously, youre getting more bang for your buck being able to run more courses.

My theory is that lines should be shorter so there will be less waiting in lines and more running, which is what we are all here to do.

The only thing I need to make this happen is a couple more judges. So, if youre up for judging and making a 7 course comp happen, please PM me and lets get it going.

Thanks to all the sponsors so far, I have 10 judges already. 14 would really set this comp off!

Also, I think I only have 3 judges for 1.9 and super. So, I would need more for those or we would be looking at 3 total courses for both classes and a longer day.

Re: The Best of the West: Oct. 26-27th - Wendover, NV

It says 2.2 is Saturday.... But the dates are Friday and Saturday?

Re: The Best of the West: Oct. 26-27th - Wendover, NV

Thanks.

2.2 is Saturday the 27th and 1.9/Super is the 28th which is a Sunday.

Hopefully I can get a moderator to fix the thread title too.

Just about any tire will work here. I have run Rock Claws and they even felt good. Yes, I said ROCK not BOSS claws and they were the non soft version on top of that.
