Well, not so much a "build thread" but more me wanting to share my experience.

I thought I'd share my Bomber "experience" with everyone because, as the title states, what started as a new build for me a couple months ago turned into my better half wanting her own. As some (if not many) of you guys out there may already know/experience it's a rarity for our wives to take interest in our addiction let alone jump right in and join in the fun! Long story short, for me it's been nearly 10 years of marriage and countless builds before (finally) one comes along that "turned" her to the dark side, lol! I guess maybe I should give some credit to Axial for this turn of events, true but I also have to credit Michelle at Krawler Konceptz for providing some inspiring (and kick ass!) graphics that proved to be like putting a kid in a candy store.

"His" Bomber...
I chose the route of "just buy it" with mine as I've never taken the initiative to "just buy" what I want (on any of the rigs I've put together). It's always budget, budget, budget. I started with purchasing my first set of VP Curries (ever), which I can finally agree with all out there, yes they are a work of art! I loaded them up with FI Spools, LURC bearings, HD gears and Incision Axles and topped them off with VP steering parts. I chose to go with Blue Monkey Ti links and trailing arms as after seeing/watching Bilinvic's builds over the last year and a half had to try these out for myself. Which by the way are so worth the money and wait time! Wheels had to be the blue DCW's. Added LURC wheel wideners, rings and hardware wrapped in CI DD Comp Cut Medium foams and Pitbull RBII's. So far I've kept the suspension straight forward. Went with Traxxas big bores, 30/35wt oil and stock springs and a UCFab sway bar. Not sure about the set up yet as the key pieces are yet to come...
My Castle MMX is waiting to be paired with a HH Puller Pro 540 3500kv enroute to me as I type. Stock trans/gears for now with a Robinson slipper and VP motor mount. All that transferring power with MIP drive shafts. Outside of that, I did some "dress up" with some aluminum panels to start, RC4WD fuel cell and soon to come, a DMG spare mount. For 2 months I've been staring at this rig (after a very short stock test run) waiting to run it again and she's almost there...

And now "Hers" Bomber...
So this one (was not planned) was supposed to be just a "basic, stock" rig. Leave it to a woman to start "shopping"! The first addition (was actually started before the second Bomber was even purchased) was the custom panels from Krawler Konceptz. Which I have to thank Michelle for an amazing job! New "shoes" (do I really need to explain this one?) were obviously a must for her. The new VP Rockstars were an easy pick wrapped in RC4WD Iroks. I kept things simple with Incision SS links and a set of Supershafty trailing arms (in the mail as we speak). VP Stage 1 in red, Incision axles and Dlux axle trusses rounded the rest of the upgrades out. I still haven't decided if I'm going to run the front truss yet (I need to let her drive it first). Everything else has remained stock with the exception of swapping out the AE-5 ESC for my preferred AE-2. Both rigs are running Castle Bec's set to 7.4v for the Solar D772 servos. That's one thing I can't pull the trigger on! I've had great luck with these servos over the years and I just can't beat the price! Anyways, again a couple more dress up items for her and she'll be good to go..."thumbsup"

Now we just need to go and get them dirty already!!!

When I read your title I thought this was going to be along the lines of Terrible Herbts. lol

DAAAAYUUUUUM. Both are lookin sooo good. Its nice to see your wife finally able to have a rig she will enjoy and be able to roll out and join the fun with everyone! Because thats what counts at the end of the day. Again awesome job on both rigs! Cant wait to see some dirt on it. Lol."thumbsup"

Thanks Bud! She's totally stoked with how it turned out and I'm sure you'll be one of the first to see it get dirty! "thumbsup"

Oh hell yeah. I'm in on this thread!!

X2

awesome looking rigs and those skins turned out great."thumbsup""thumbsup" looking forward to vids of her beating the crap out of it and you fixing it.:lmao:your lucky enough to just have her interested. wrenching would be icing on the cake so to speak.

I'll be hanging some rockjocks under my Bomber at some point. Just wondering; are the link lengths different from stock? I've got a full incision link kit and wonder if it bolts up to those Rockjocks.

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the kind words! I was originally hesitant about putting a thread together (only because I don't want it to be just another post of pics) but have been super excited to get these together and have my wife come out with me and the kids! Since yesterday, after putting the panels on, she's been bugging me to "get it done already!" lol! I see some good times in the near future here...

The only change I had to make with the links were the rear end links. The Revo rod ends were a bit too short. You can either use Jato rod ends or in my case, I have some Proline long rod ends that fit perfectly. I used these on both of the trucks.

I finally got my motor and ESC wired up, installed and started playing with the programming. The Castle MMX auxiliary function is awesome! I'm so glad I listened to 84yoda on this one "thumbsup"

So I finally received the last of the parts for my "Hers" Bomber. The SuperShafty trailing arms are a perfect fit and finish! I added the DMG spare mount which will help with rear clearance (and IMO, looks much better) and the RC4WD fuel cell which has been a pain to find in the last month or so.

The good news is, the wife loves it and even snuck it out while I was at work and ran through a 3s pack! Bad news is, the "His" Bomber (mine) is down at the moment. Blew up my servo (Solar D772) last weekend while testing the MMX settings! I see a HH servo in my near future. Btw, on 3s 5200mah and 14t/64t gears with standard HD gears... Bitchin! "thumbsup"

Just looking at the bottom of "hers", you may want to make sure there's no binding in that rear driveline as the suspension compresses. It looks like it's bottomed out now. This will cause problems with the drivetrain and something will have to give in a bad way. HTH

Good call on that one Screamer. I didn't notice that before. I was more concerned with the clearance around the drive shaft but when I compressed the suspension on the bench I noticed the binding. I'll have to swap out one of the outer shafts for a shorter one. Thanks!

You can just trim what you need with a box cutter. That's how I do it. You want max engagement with just enough room to cycle. Trim off the long side since the inner male slider is symmetrical.

That's hilarious she couldn't wait to run it and awesome at the same time.

Fix yours and enjoy the runs with the miss's. Both look very very good and stout. "thumbsup""thumbsup"

Thanks guys!

Screamer, that worked out perfect. I was going to just swap the longer one out but realized I didn't have one that would work.

Mike, I agree. At first I was upset that I missed her first run but, then I thought about how cool it was that she thought about taking it out in the first place. Hopefully I'll have a replacement servo by next weekend. My first run was too much of a tease. I had just gotten the settings where I thought I wanted them and BAM! Sucks....
