tamiya toyota tundra prototype

how cool would this be?

Holy Schnikeees Batman that is tits. I am in love with this new Tundra in the 1:1 realm. The kit here, eh, another body on the same chassis. But at least it is another body. Now what is pictured above is damn nice and would be awesome to make out of that body. I would buy it for that aspect alone.

If it is posted on the Japan site in the next week or 3 then look for it to be released at the Shizuoka Hobby show that is run with the Tamiya World Championship. That would put street arrival around the first of the year late December. Not an official post by any means but if those are production parts then look for the release about then. If Joe can talk official about this yet then he should hopefully have more.

The US did alot of the lead work on this project due to the Tundra being a US model. Glad to see they got the scoop at TCS Nationals.

Correct me if I am wrong but don't you mean the Tokyo Hobby Show which I believe is to be in october? I am quite certain that the Shizuoka Hobby Show is held in may or am I way off here?

My photos seem to be everywhere. :-P

I just posted a few more photos, one shot from below and one at a lower angle. I don't know much about crawling and the Tamiya staff didn't say much, but I picked it up and spent a minute or two checking it out, so maybe I can answer some questions. It was made clear to me that they still have a lot of work to do on it, so I wouldn't expect this thing too soon. It didn't look like a prototype though. It was fully functional but they said they forgot the radio. They didn't say a release date or price range. If anyone wants close-ups of certain parts let me know. These photos were shot at 3008x2000. I don't check this site very often though, so you may get a quicker response at the link below.

i'm sure that they weren't refering to the chassis and drive line, the highlift platform seems to be a solid platform at the moment. i am thinking they meant more work on getting the body ready for production. ;-)

There is probably just a bit of extra length that is bolted on to the standard High Lift rails similar to the Hilux.

Dude that is tight...I need to get one run it a couple of times @ a toyota dealership and shelf queen it...still waiting for taniya to make a FJ Cruiser...DIY is to much work to make one, I'd rather just buy it made...

Diff covers have changed.
I like the body, think theres a lot of scope to play around with it...and that bull bar goes well.
Still doesnt look right with those little tyres though,it looks a bit toyish
