Tactic TR325 in SCX10 is NOT 3S lipo compatible

Well, just went through my 2nd one. This one lasted 30 seconds. Apparently, you can only run a Tactic receiver with the new tactic TX, is this true? Now I don't get to run the truck this weekend with my son on Fathers Day...THANKS AXIAL!

UPDATE!

ORDERED A 3CH SKY FLY TX/RX COMBO OFF AMAZON FOR $27 SHIPPED AND EVERYTHING WORKS FINE. IT'S OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE AXIAL/TACTIC STUFF.

the servo gets its power from the rx...which gets it from the esc....not caused by 3s power since the esc is 3s rated..sounds like you got a couple bad servos or your rx or esc is bad... as far as I know tactic tx needs a tactic rx...nothing surprising about that..my opinion is they should have stuck with the flysky compatible stuff...

TS325 is the RX, and it can't handle 3s. The first AE5 ESC smoked and now I'm on a Dynamite ESC, it's fine with the 3s the tactic receiver just gives out and the led flashes at a rapid pace.

Tactic receivers CAN handle 3s, that's all I run in my crawlers. Make sure the esc is plugged in correctly into the receiver and in 2nd channel.

Yes it calibrates the servo and such but you'll need to calibrate it to the radio so that it understands the throttle inputs. What Dynamite esc is it?

per the manual:

ESC Calibration Procedure
Ensure proper ESC function by calibrating the ESC to your transmitter
inputs.
1. Power OFF the ESC.
2. Ensure your transmitter is powered ON, the throttle is not
reversed, the throttle trim is neutral and the throttle travel range is
at 100%. Disable any special functions such as ABS, etc.
3. Keep the throttle at neutral and power ON the ESC.
4. The ESC automatically calibrates the throttle range after 3
seconds.
5. One long beep will sound when the ESC is ready to run

Yep, that's what I did to get it to run the solid 30 seconds until the receiver quit on me

It doesn't make any sense to me, the receiver must some how be letting power bleed back in through the ESC. Not even sure if that's possible. ..

Your receiver should not care what the battery voltage is, the ESC powers your receiver, your ESC should only be sending 5v @ 2amps to the receiver even with a 3S battery. Have you installed an external BEC, is there anything else wired to your system?

Yes, generally receivers and transmitters are brand specific, some are transmitter model specific. Although there are a few exceptions, it's best to stick with the same brand as your transmitter when replacing receivers.

Is the receiver that just smoked the same one that was on the smoked Axial ESC? The ESC could have damaged the receiver when it died, receivers are fragile and do not like voltage spikes or direct short-outs.

The receiver draws power from the ESC, nothing should be bleeding back unless you have an external BEC installed/wired improperly.

No BEC, no lights, just a servo for steering. This is not the one that was on the smoked ESC I just bought it today from my LHS.

Any recommendations on a set to use that can handle 3s lipo?

Your current gear and the previously burned up gear should have been fine on 3S. I would try to find out why they failed before plugging anything else in. Only thing I can think of at this point is maybe something is shorting out or the polarity is reversed somewhere in the ESC to receiver, or receiver to servo wring.

Which Dynamite ESC did you get?

Dynamite S2210 WP 60A

Polarity can't be reversed, it wouldn't work at all. It worked perfect for like 30 seconds

Looks like a standard universal receiver plug on the ESC, it can be plugged in backwards, but that happens all the time and it wouldn't burn anything up.

Do you have a volt meter or multi-meter you can use to check the voltage coming out of the battery pack and coming from the receiver plug on the ESC? It should be pretty close to 12.6v at the battery when fully charged and the receiver plug should have 5v from it.

The receiver gets powered from your ESC (or BEC). It doesnt matter if you are running 2S,3S, or 4S. It should be getting the same voltage.

What servo are you running?

That's what I thought, however it doesn't seem to be the vase with the TS325. The servo is the stock tactic tx45 which also is useless because the one little gear that's plastic stripped, I have a metal replacement gear on order from eBay.

Unless you have something goofy going on with your wiring, thats just how it works. Your RX will only see whatever voltage your ESC (or BEC) is sending to it. The battery voltage does not matter. I have 2 of those RXs and I only use 3S.

Also are you sure your battery is fully charged? Have you tried rebinding the RX?
